Какой самый лучший сувенир можно привезти из поездки? Что-то, что доступно далеко не каждому местному жителю. Вместо того чтобы везти друзьям фигурки в форме Golden Gate Bridge, я решил искать подарки в закрытых магазинах для сотрудников компаний. Начал с Google, благо несколько друзей там работает. Это было просто, но однажды мы случайно прошли мимо офиса Lucasfilm, и я узнал что там внутри тоже есть уникальный магазин для сотрудников. У моего друга, почитателя Звездных войн, недавно был день рождения, и я решил сделать все чтобы попасть внутрь.
С Джоржем Лукасом у меня общих друзей нет, поэтому начал искать сотрудников в социальных сетях: LinkedIn, Facebook, и ВКонтакте. Выйти на наиболее подходящего сотрудника Lucasfilm оказалось сложно, и я попробовал запасной вариант: офис компании LucasArts, делающей игры по вселенной Star Wars находился в тех же зданиях.
Шансов что случайный человек пустит незнакомца в здание крайне мало. Но во ВКонтакте через поиск по месту работы и городу проживания нашелся человек, который работал в LucasArts (и по счастью не успел сменить место работы в профиле, а ушел он по иронии в Google), и с которым есть общий знакомый (а также сам человек из России, это уже зацепка). Через профиль ВКонтакте я нашел другие его социальные сети: фэйсбук, ЖЖ. В ЖЖ (кажется) нашел email. Написал с расчетом что у него осталось немало знакомых в компании где он недавно работал. И это сработало: через неделю мы были в святая святых всех фанатов Звездных войн — в сердце Lucasfilm (или теперь правильнее говорить Disney?). А друг только что получил в подарок коллекционное вино с ранчо Скайуокера, с частного виноградника Лукаса, которое можно купить только там.

What is the best souvenir you can bring from a trip? Something that is not accessible to every local resident. Instead of bringing my friends figures in the form of Golden Gate Bridge, I decided to look for gifts in closed stores for company employees. Started with Google, the benefit of several friends working there. It was simple, but once we accidentally walked past the Lucasfilm office, and I found out that there is also a unique store for employees inside. My friend, a Star Wars fan, recently had a birthday, and I decided to do everything to get inside.
I have no common friends with George Lucas, so I started looking for employees on social networks: LinkedIn, Facebook, and VKontakte. Finding out the most suitable Lucasfilm employee was difficult, and I tried a fallback: the office of LucasArts, a Star Wars game company, was located in the same buildings.
There is very little chance that a random person will let a stranger into a building. But on VKontakte, through a search by place of work and city of residence, there was a person who worked at LucasArts (and fortunately did not manage to change his place of work on the profile, but he left by irony on Google), and with whom he has a common acquaintance (as well as the person himself from Russia, this is a clue). Through the VKontakte profile, I found his other social networks: facebook, LiveJournal. In LJ (it seems) I found an email. He wrote with the expectation that he had many friends in the company where he recently worked. And it worked: a week later we were in the holy of holies of all Star Wars fans - in the heart of Lucasfilm (or is it better to say Disney now?). And a friend just received a gift of collection wine from Skywalker Ranch, from the Lucas private vineyard, which can only be bought there.
