Согласно последним сводным данным Международной ассоциации пожарно-спасательных служб (CTIF) за 2015 год, в России больше всего жертв пожаров на 100 тыс. населения — 6,4 человека. Далее следуют Белоруссия и Украина (6,1 и 4,5 погибших на 100 тыс. человек, соответственно).
В США в среднем один человек на 100 тыс. жителей гибнет от пожаров, в Великобритании — 0,5. Данные собраны по 41 стране, среди них нет африканских государств, где смертность от пожаров еще выше.
При этом в России за год происходит один пожар на тысячу человек, следует из данных CTIF. В западных странах этот показатель гораздо выше: в Нидерландах — 7,4, в США — 6,1, во Франции — 4,6, в Великобритании — 3,1.
