Поскольку в этой области нет света, то там постоянная тьма. Эта область отведена для душ, как некая тюрьма, в которой были поставлены стражами ангелы, приводящие в исполнение временные наказания нравов каждого в соответствии с его деяниями. И в этой области определено некое место, озеро огня неугасимого, в которое, как мы предполагаем, пока еще никто не ввержен, но которое уготовано Богом на определенный день, когда на справедливом Суде всем по достоинству будет вынесен окончательный приговор. К ним посылаются стоящие рядом ангелы, которые изгоняют их в более глубокие области, произнося хулы и грозя устрашающим взором. И они влекут приводимых сюда как можно ближе к Геенне. Те, кто находится [к ней] ближе, непрерывно слышат грохот и не могут избежать [ее] обжигающего дыхания. А когда само это зрелище приближается, они замирают [на месте], видя страшную и чрезмерную огненную картину, уже испытывая наказание, насколько каждый может, из-за предвкушения будущего. Но и там неправедные видят место, где находятся отцы и праведники, и казнятся по этой причине. Ибо посередине [между ними] утверждена глубокая и великая пропасть, так что [неправедный] ни принять не мог бы к себе праведного, почувствовавшего сострадание, ни сам не осмелился бы перейти [к праведному].

"However, it is necessary to say [and] about hell, which contains the souls of the righteous and unrighteous. Hell is an undeveloped place in the created world, a certain underground region where the light of the world does not shine. Since there is no light in this area, there is constant darkness. This the area is reserved for souls, like a prison in which angels were placed by guards, enforcing temporary punishments of everyone’s morals in accordance with his deeds, and in this area there is a certain place, a lake of unquenchable fire, into which, as we assume, is still no one is cast about which God has prepared for a certain day, when a final judgment will be duly passed at a fair Judgment, and [then] the unrighteous and disobedient to God, who, as God honored the empty deeds of human hands, created idols, will be sentenced to this eternal punishment, as which became the cause of desecration, and the righteous, who are now in hell, but not in the same place as the unrighteous, have reached the imperishable and non-impoverishing Kingdom.

And the unrighteous are led to the left by torture angels, leaving now not voluntarily, but driven by force, like bound ones. Angels standing next to them are sent to them, expelling them to deeper areas, uttering blasphemy and threatening with a terrifying look. And they attract those brought here as close as possible to Hell. Those who are closer to her continuously hear the roar and cannot escape [her] burning breath. And when this sight itself draws near, they freeze [on the spot], seeing a terrible and excessive fiery picture, already experiencing the punishment as much as anyone can, because of the anticipation of the future. But even there, the unrighteous see the place where the fathers and the righteous are, and are executed for this reason. For in the middle [between them] a deep and great abyss was established, so that [the unrighteous] could neither accept the righteous, who felt compassion, nor dare to go over [to the righteous].
This is the word about hell, which contains the souls of all until the time determined by God, when He will make the resurrection of all, not transforming the soul, but resurrecting the body. "
