Ну... честно говоря без особого восторга. Фильм из разряда тех, которые тяжело смотреть. Социальная драма, поднимающая серьезные вопросы. Посвященная проблемам бесчеловечной формулизованной бюрократии, совершенно невосприимчивой к проблемам конкретных людей и доводящей их до отчаянья в попытках получить пособие. Для Англии, на сколько мне известно, тема серьезная. И лично для меня со всей моей непереносимостью подобных занятий тоже. Фильм ее действительно раскрыл... выходя я чувствовал схожее с героями истощенное состояние... и сопереживал им.
Хотя тут и не было совсем уж безысходного мрачняка как в левиафане, но все равно это было снято очень мрачно, депрессивно и, честно говоря, скучно. Здесь даже не было как таковой войны с системой, лишь стоическое выживание в выставляемых ей условиях. Взять ту же "в центре внимания". Идея примерно такая же - есть острая социальная проблема и все построено вокруг неё и людей, которые ей противостоят, но там была яркая актерская игра, интересные диалоги, хороший саундтрэк и операторская работа... а тут же есть совсем простая картинка, а все страстные порывы героев мгновенно разбивались о совершенно непробиваемую бюрократическую стену. Да, это важный элемент повествования, создающий атмосферу фильма. Но здесь нет еще и той красивой обертки, которая бы сделала возможным более широкому зрителю все это увидеть и понять тот посыл, который пытались донести авторы.
Критики же очень любят эту картину. Золотая пальмовая ветвь и все такое.

Well ... to be honest, without much enthusiasm. A film from the category of those that are hard to watch. Social drama raising serious questions. Dedicated to the problems of the inhumane formalized bureaucracy, which is completely immune to the problems of specific people and makes them desperate in their attempts to receive benefits. For England, as far as I know, the topic is serious. And for me personally, with all my intolerance to such activities, too. The film really revealed it ... when I left, I felt a depleted state similar to the heroes ... and empathized with them.
Although there wasn’t a completely hopeless gloom like in the Leviathan, it was still shot very gloomy, depressed and, frankly, boring. There was not even a war with the system as such, only stoic survival under the conditions set for it. Take the same “spotlight”. The idea is about the same - there is an acute social problem and everything is built around it and the people who oppose it, but there was a bright acting, interesting dialogs, a good soundtrack and camera work ... and then there is a very simple picture, and everyone is passionate the impulses of the heroes instantly smashed against a completely impenetrable bureaucratic wall. Yes, this is an important narrative element that creates the atmosphere of the film. But there is also not that beautiful wrapper that would make it possible for a wider audience to see all this and understand the message that the authors tried to convey.
Critics really love this picture. Golden palm branch and all that.
