С Новым Годом
Как новый год есть начало дней лета, так в день этот надлежит набрать в душу такие помышления, чувства и расположения, которые могли бы, достойно христианина, заправлять всем ходом дел его в продолжении года. Это мы тотчас найдем как только возьмем в мысль, что есть новый год в духовной жизни. В духовной жизни новый год есть, когда кто из живущих в нерадении начинает ревновать о спасении и богоугождении: ибо когда кто решается на это, тогда у него внутри и вне все перестраивается заново и на новых началах, - древнее мимоходит и все бывает ново. Если у тебя есть это, - понови; а если нет, - произведи, - и будет у тебя новый год. К этому же подойдет и достойное празднование обрезания Господня и памяти св. Василия Великого. Сущность сказанного изменения состоит в том что человек начинает с этого момента жить единственно для Бога во спасение свое, тогда как прежде жил исключительно для себя, уготовляя себе пагубу. Тут бросает он прежние привычки, все утехи и все, в чем находил удовольствие; отсекает страсти и похотные расположения и воспринимает дела строгого самоотвержения. А такое изменение точь в точь представляет то, чем по Апостолу, должно быть обрезание сердца, - о котором напоминает и к которому обязывает нас празднование обрезания Господня, и пример которому представляет в лице своем св. Василий Великий. Так все предметы, теснящиеся в сознании, в Новый год сходятся в одном - внутреннем обновлении нашем через обрезание сердца. Если благоволит Господь кому настроиться в новый год таким образом т. е. не только подумать так но и в жизнь ввести все это, тот наисовершеннейшим образом по христиански спразднует Новый год и приготовится к христианскому препровождению всего лета. В следующий Новый год ему надо будет только поновить и оживить воспринятое ныне.
(1 Тим. 3, 14-4, 5; Мф. 3, 1-11). "Дом Божий, который есть Церковь Бога живого, столп и утверждение истины". Следовательно, нам нечего вращать очи туда и сюда, чтоб высмотреть, нет ли где истины. Она - близ. Будь в Церкви, содержи все, что она содержит, - и будешь во истине, - будешь обладать истиною и жить по ней и в ней, и вследствие того истинной будешь преисполнен жизнью. Вне Православной Церкви нет истины. Она единая верная хранительница всего заповеданного Господом через Св. Апостолов и есть потому настоящая Апостольская Церковь. Иные потеряли Церковь Апостольскую, и, как по христианскому сознанию, носят убеждение, что только Апостольская Церковь может верно хранить и указывать истину, вздумали сами построить такую церковь, и построили, и имя ей такое придали. Имя придали, а существа сообщить не могли. Ибо Апостольская Церковь создана по благоволению Отца Господом Спасителем благодатью Св. Духа через Апостолов. Людям такой уж не создать. Думающие создать такую уподобляются детям, в куклы играющим. Если нет на земле истинной Апостольской Церкви, нечего и труды тратить над созданием ее. Но благодарение Господу, Он не попустил вратам адовым одолеть Св. Апостольскую Церковь. Она есть и пребудет по обетованию Его, до скончания века. И это есть наша Православная Церковь. Слава Богу!

Happy New Year

The essence of the said change consists in the fact that from this moment a person begins to live solely for God to save his life, whereas before he lived exclusively for himself, preparing for himself a disastrous effect. Here he gives up his old habits, all the joys and everything he found pleasure in; cuts off passions and lustful dispositions and perceives the affairs of strict selflessness. And such a change exactly represents what, according to the Apostle, a circumcision of the heart should be — about which the celebration of circumcision of the Lord reminds us and obliges us, and which St. Basil the Great. So all objects crowded in consciousness, in the New Year converge in one thing - our inner renewal through circumcision of the heart. If the Lord favors someone to tune in the New Year in this way, that is, not only to think this way, but also to bring all this to life, he will celebrate the New Year in the most perfect way in the Christian way and prepare for the Christian presentation of the whole summer. In the next New Year, he will only need to renew and revive the perceived now.
