Мои записи в экспедиции - это отдельный квест-сборка записей с ежедневных встреч всего состава (каждый день в 19:30 у нас была встреча по итогам рабочего дня, плюс иногда были лекции-презентации от senior scientists), моих воспоминаний, заметок, мыслей, фотографий, планов тренировок.
И они часто нуждаются в расшифровке. ????

"Из разговора со Стивом: «немцы используют много восклицательных знаков» ????"

И дальше я вспоминаю. Стив - американец, но последнее время работает в Southampton, в UK, микропалеонтолог, специализируется на диотомеях, в основном, эоцен.

На корабле, где все говорят на немецком, сложно быть одним из немногих, кто этот язык не понимает, пусть и официальным языком был английский. Как истинный американец (почему-то в моей голове это свойственно всем американцам) Стив - любитель smalltalk. Я очень долго привыкала к его бодрому "How's going?", где-то две недели у меня ушло на то, чтобы приучить себя, улыбнувшись в ответ - "everything is fine", болтать о пустом.

И как-то разговор зашёл о языковых особенностях. Высказав небольшую зависть тому, что я понимаю немецкое лопотание, он заметил, что немецких коллег очень легко узнать по манере написания электронных писем: «Уважаемый БлаБла! * exclamation mark* Прошу вас прислать блабла! * exclamation mark*», смеётся и говорит, что на английском это звучит, будто собеседник на тебя орёт. ???? И здесь, на корабле, говорит, везде восклицательные знаки, сразу видно, что корабль немецкий. ????

После этого разговора я стала их тоже замечать: "Please clean sport equipment after using!!!" "Do not use treadmill while sea state!!!" "Do not smoke!!!"
.
И каждый раз эти три восклицательных знака. ???? И каждый раз улыбалась, до сих пор вспоминаю! * exclamation mark*????

My expedition records are a separate quest-assembly of records from daily meetings of the whole composition (every day at 19:30 we had a meeting on the basis of the working day, plus sometimes there were lectures from senior scientists), my memories, notes, thoughts, photos, training plans.
And they often need decoding. ????

"From a conversation with Steve:" the Germans use a lot of exclamation marks "????"

And then I remember. Steve is an American, but recently he has been working at Southampton, in the UK, a micropalleontologist who specializes in Diotomea, mainly Eocene.

On a ship where everyone speaks German, it is difficult to be one of the few who do not understand this language, even if the official language was English. As a true American (for some reason in my head it is common to all Americans) Steve is a fan of smalltalk. I got used to his “How's going?” For a very long time, it took me about two weeks to train myself, smiling back - “everything is fine”, to talk about what was empty.
