Закончился сериал “Игра Престолов”, и я решил написать про него свои “пять копеек”.

Сейчас многие фанаты “Игры Престолов” недовольны его концовкой. Всвязи с этим те, кому конец понравился, иронизируют. Дескать фанатам бомбит от того, что кончилось все не так, как они хотели: не тот человек сел на трон, не тех убили и не так, как надо было, не те в живых остались, и все в этом роде. Фанатов сравнивают с капризными детьми, которым не дали желанную игрушку, и теперь они инфантильно ноют: “ну, маааам”.
Может быть для кого это и справедливо, но могу с уверенностью сказать, что не для меня. Меня разочаровали последние несколько сезонов, а концовка стала апогеем, квинтэссенцией тех тенденциях, которые зародились еще в сезоне так шестом, если не раньше.
“Игра Престолов” была интересна мне отсутствием заштампованности. Даже я, любитель авторского кино и артхауса, ждал по привычке от сериала “голливудского” развития сюжета. Если герой добр и благороден, а его оппонент, напротив, вызывает неприязнь, то в какой бы сложной ситуации герой не оказался, он выкарабкается.
Мы привыкли к таким ходам в кино, но в жизни так не работает: никто и ничто не подсуживает и не помогает приятным, благородным и честным людям. Именно тем, что в “Престолах” было все “как в жизни”, они и подкупали. Именно на этом были построены “вот это повороты” Мартина: мы ждем чудесного спасения приятного нам персонажа, а оно не происходит. Вместо этого герой “внезапно” гибнет, но на сам деле это логично вытекает из действий персонажа. Рассказал заклятому врагу, что знаешь его самую страшную тайну, принебрег поддержкой благосклонно настроенных к тебе людей, дочь говорит о заговоре против тебя, а ты ей не веришь? Тебе отрубают голову. Нарушил договоренность с человеком расчетливым, циничным и не славящимся благородством и эмпатией, рассчитывая на его благосклонность? Получи стрелу из арбалета. Потерял бдительность и требуешь раскаяния и извинений от самого жестокого и бесчувственного в мире человека? Тебе размозжили голову. Жестко, неожиданно, пугающе реалистично, страшно и, в то же время, очень логично и закономерно.
Что же мы видим в последних сезонах и особенно в самом конце сериале? Да полную противоположность! Многие возразят: ну, смотри, вот жеж они, те самые неожиданные “вот это повороты”, за которые мы так любим сериал. Неожиданные, да. Неожиданно тупые. Ибо в последних сезонах они никак не обусловлены развитием сюжета, предшествующими действиями персонажей и происходят просто потому, что так захотели сценаристы. Более того, события, которые были до этого, зачастую этим сюжетным поворотам прямо противоречат.
Вот персонаж бегает по замку, а в следующей сцене он уже выпрыгивает совсем из другого места, где он никак выпрыгнуть не мог. Вот дракон не может атаковать и колеблется, а в следующей серии он уверенно атакует. Что до этого ему мешало это сделать – непонятно. Вот “скорпионы” скоординированно и быстро стреляют, выпуская тучу стрел, разрушая корабли и попадая точно в шею (!) летящему дракону, а в следующей серии из огромного количества “скорпионов” лишь пара-тройка выпускает стрелы, и те летят мимо цели.
Эти моменты можно перечислять очень долго: герои то резко глупеют, то умнеют, то они проявляют человечность и говорят, что им жаль людей, то тут же заявляют, что на них им всегда было наплевать, то они воины 80 левела, а то, как камикадзе, сами насаживаются на меч соперника. Действия героев становятся обусловлены не развитием сюжета, не их характерами и способностями, а каждый раз подстраиваются под сюжет так, как этого хотят сценаристы.
В общем реалистичность, продуманность сюжета и характеров сменились голливудскими штампами: бессмертными персонажами и, как следствие, огромным количеством “роялей в кустах”, которые их спасают. Вышеперечисленное совершенно убивает весь интерес. В конце сериала мне постоянно хотелось сказать “не верю”, пропало сопереживание по отношению к персонажам, которое было по началу, да и просто стало скучно. Ну и концовка, это просто апофеоз сценарной беспомощности.

Now many Game of Thrones fans are unhappy with its ending. Because of this, those who liked the end are ironic. They say the fans are bombing because everything did not end the way they wanted: the wrong person sat on the throne, the wrong people were killed and not in the right way, the wrong ones survived, and everything like that. Fans are compared to capricious children who were not given the desired toy, and now they whine in an infantile way: “well, maaaam”.
Maybe for someone this is true, but I can say with confidence that it is not for me. The last few seasons have disappointed me, and the ending has become the apogee, the quintessence of those trends that originated in the sixth season, if not earlier.
Game of Thrones was interesting to me for its lack of stamping. Even I, a lover of auteur cinema and art house, expected a “Hollywood” plot development from the series out of habit. If the hero is kind and noble, and his opponent, on the contrary, causes hostility, then no matter what difficult situation the hero finds himself in, he will get out.
We are accustomed to such moves in the cinema, but in life this does not work: no one and nothing condemns or helps pleasant, noble and honest people. It was precisely by the fact that in “Thrones” everything was “as in life” that they bribed. It was on this that Martin's “these twists” were built: we are waiting for the miraculous salvation of a character we like, but it does not happen. Instead, the hero "suddenly" dies, but in fact this logically follows from the actions of the character. Told the sworn enemy that you know his most terrible secret, neglected the support of people favorably disposed towards you, your daughter talks about a conspiracy against you, but you don't believe her? Your head is cut off. Violated an agreement with a calculating, cynical and not famous for nobility and empathy, counting on his favor? Receive an arrow from the crossbow. Lost your guard and demand repentance and apology from the most cruel and insensitive person in the world? You got your head smashed. Tough, unexpected, frighteningly realistic, scary and, at the same time, very logical and natural.
What do we see in recent seasons and especially at the very end of the series? Yes, the complete opposite! Many will object: well, look, here they are, those same unexpected “this is the twist” for which we love the series so much. Unexpected, yes. Suddenly dumb. For in recent seasons, they are in no way determined by the development of the plot, the previous actions of the characters and occur simply because the writers wanted it so. Moreover, the events that took place before, often directly contradict these plot twists.
Here the character is running around the castle, and in the next scene he already jumps from a completely different place, where he could not jump out in any way. The dragon cannot attack and hesitates, but in the next episode he confidently attacks. It is not clear what prevented him from doing this before. Here "scorpions" are coordinated and fast shooting, releasing a cloud of arrows, destroying ships and hitting exactly the neck (!) Of a flying dragon, and in the next series of a huge number of "scorpions" only a couple of three fire arrows, and they fly past the target.
These moments can be enumerated for a very long time: the heroes sometimes become sharply stupid, then they grow wiser, then they show humanity and say that they feel sorry for people, then they immediately declare that they always did not care about them, then they were 80 warriors, but how kamikaze, themselves sit on the opponent's sword. The actions of the heroes become conditioned not by the development of the plot, not by their characters and abilities, but each time they adjust to the plot the way the scriptwriters want.
In general, the realism, thoughtfulness of the plot and characters were replaced by Hollywood clichés: immortal characters and, as a result, a huge number of “pianos in the bushes” that save them. The above completely kills all interest. At the end of the series, I constantly wanted to say “I don’t believe”, I lost empathy for the characters, which was at the beginning, and it just became boring. Well, the ending is just the apotheosis of script helplessness.
