И только Сергей Миронов пока не называет кандидата на замену. Думские сплетники объясняют это страхом главы «эсеров», что из-за неучастия в выборах его внутрипартийные позиции ослабнут и он может потерять пост лидера.

Источники в Кремле считают, что этот слух запущен для подъема интереса к Собчак и обеспечения высокой явки, которую потребовал от Сергея Кириенко президент. При этом те же источники допускают, что Путин мог намекнуть Собчак и Юмашевым на перспективы 2024 года, чтобы сейчас получить поддержку ельцинской «Семьи» для легитимации выборов‑2018 на Западе.
