Все с нетерпением ждут Google Glass, считая этот проект технологией будущего. Это почти верно: развиваемый в рамках него движок суперинтерактивного помощника с дополненной реальностью очевидно будет незаменимым ежедневным инструментом в жизни каждого человека. Однако я с самого начала считаю Glass в текущем виде шагом назад. Почему?
По той же причине почему наручные часы это рудимент, а прогрессивное человечество носит контактные линзы. Потому что это очки (точнее монокль). Это хреновина, которую надо будет носить на себе, которая будет ограничивать зрение. Я не ношу очки не только потому что это некрасиво (извините), главная их проблема в том что они ограничивают обзор прямоугольной рамкой, и я могу видеть эту рамку. Дужки натирают нос и уши, и то что вы к этому привыкаете не значит что это норма.
В 21 веке один из важных векторов развития технологий это освобождение человека от лишнего веса и сооружений на теле (всякие браслеты-трекеры этому сопротивляются). Я крайне рад что могу ощущать свободу от любых устройств на теле (привет хэндс-фри наушнику). На этом фоне прорывной продукт откатывает человечество в предыдущую эпоху — снова носить конструкцию на голове, снова видеть рамку (пусть и частично, в случае с Glass), снова вес, ограничения и физический контакт. Glass — это лишь первый шаг на большом пути, как запуск собаки в космос. Такая технология обязана после длительной доработки переместиться хотя бы на контактные линзы, освободив человека от очков. Опять освободив.

I am extremely glad that I can feel freedom from any devices on the body (hello hands-free to the headphone). Against this background, a breakthrough product rolls back mankind to a previous era - to wear the structure on the head again, to see the frame again (even partially, in the case of Glass), again the weight, limitations and physical contact. Glass is just the first step on a long journey, like launching a dog into space. Such a technology is obliged after a long refinement to move at least to contact lenses, freeing a person from glasses. Again freeing.
