С интересом слежу за восхождением Трампа в США. Добавляет любопытства то что похожая история была обыграна в сериале Battlestar Galactica (который больше про социальные проблемы, чем про космос). Краткий сюжет: группа последних представителей человечества на огромном космическом авианосце через всю галактику удирает от роботов и пытается выжить, а заодно сохранить остатки социальных институтов. И вот однажды нашли планету, непригодную для жизни из-за суровых условий, но с нужным составом атмосферы. А на носу как раз выборы президента. На горизонте появляется местный Трамп: популярный у народа популист, который играет на эмоциях и страхах. Он пользуется тем что люди устали спасаться и предлагает остаться на этой планете. Известно, что если остаться, то рано или поздно планету найдут и захватят, самое безопасное место это корабль (его преимущество не в том что он может отбить атаку, а в том что он может дичайше и немедленно свалить). Предыдущий президент выступает за то чтобы оставаться на корабле, на планете все равно не выжить.
Так вот выборы. Народные массы поддерживают полоумного популиста. А небольшая группа мудрых людей стоит перед тяжелым выбором: дать ему победить потому что так хочет народ и таков продукт демократии, или любой целой этого не допустить, но спасти много людей. Случается даже самая настоящая фальсификация результатов при подсчете голосов (какая ирония). Но честные люди из числа мудрых ловят своих же на фальсификации и удаляются решать, без преувеличения, судьбу человечества: закрыть ли глаза на фальсификацию в пользу своего кандидата или же дать победить тому, кто с большой вероятностью всех погубит. После долгих дебатов они решают что подделывать выборы это кривая дорожка и ведет в долгосрочной перспективе [к Путину] к разрушению всех социальных институтов и последующей деградации и все равно вымиранию общества. Пересчитывают результаты правильно и дают Трампу победить. Демократия торжествует.
Трамп поселяет всех на планете, половина населения вымирает, потом прилетают роботы, Трамп им незамедлительно сдается, роботы порабощают оставшуюся половину человечества и устраивает для них гетто, резервацию биологического вида чисто в энтомологических целях. Потом правда прилетает кораблик и как-то всех оставшихся спасает, но популяция последних во вселенной людишек уменьшается так конкретно. Какая тут мораль? Правильно ли они поступили что не дали сфальсифицировать? Не знаю. Но за Трампом наблюдаю с интересом.

After much debate, they decide that faking elections is a crooked path and leads in the long run [to Putin] to the destruction of all social institutions and subsequent degradation and the extinction of society anyway. Recount the results correctly and let Trump win. Democracy triumphs.
