Три дня прожила в "1984", учитывая, что я родилась в 1983, мне было очень интересно там оказаться! Как и в ситуации со "Скотным двором" последние главы оказались особенно мучительны! Я ооочень боюсь физического насилия, нет ничего страшнее пытки. Все описанное и пережитое героем Смитом ясно происходит с читателем. Я явно переставляла его муки, его мысли... Очнувшись от книги я поняла, в какое же счастливое время мы живём, да может быть это не та свобода, о которой все мечтают, но зато нет войны, есть относительная свобода взглядов... И Большой брат ещё не такой как у Оруэлла... И проще просто жить и не думать, быть "пролом"!

Оруэлл пишет о пролах: «Они рождаются, растут в грязи, в двенадцать лет начинают работать, переживают короткий период физического расцвета и сексуальности, в двадцать лет женятся, в тридцать уже немолоды, к шестидесяти обычно умирают. Тяжелый физический труд, заботы о доме и детях, мелкие свары с соседями, кино, футбол, пиво и, главное, азартные игры — вот и все, что вмещается в их кругозор. Управлять ими несложно.
