"И сие рек, дуну и глагола им: приимите Дух Свят. У нас рождается вопрос: что значит, что Господь наш, и находясь на земле, единожды даровал Духа Святого, и единожды, - присутствуя на небе? Ибо дарованный Дух Святой очевидно описывается являющимся не в другом месте, как в Деяниях (2:1 и след.); если Он теперь не приемлется через дуновение, то и после, снисходя с неба, не является в различных языках. Итак, почему Он прежде даруется ученикам на земле, а после посылается с неба, если не потому, что две заповеди любви, - именно: любовь к Богу, и любовь к ближнему? - На земле даруется Дух для того, чтобы любили ближнего; а с неба ниспосылается Дух для того, чтобы любили Бога. Следовательно, как одна любовь, а две заповеди, так и един Дух, а два дара. Первый от Господа, пребывающего на земле, последний - с неба;потому что в любви к ближнему скрывается учение, как должно достигать любви к Богу. Поэтому тот же Иоанн говорит: не любяй брата своего, егоже виде, Бога, Егоже не виде, како может любити (1Ин.4:20)? Хотя и прежде тот же Дух присутствовал в сердцах учеников, настрояя их к вере, но, несмотря на то, явным образом дарован не иначе, как после воскресения. Поэтому и написано: не у бо бе Дух Святый, яко Иисус не у бе прославлен (Ин.7:39)."

"And these rivers, the Danube, and the verb to them: Receive the Holy Spirit. The question arises here: what does it mean that our Lord, being on earth, once granted the Holy Spirit, and once, being present in heaven? For the granted Holy Spirit is obviously described appearing in no other place than in Acts (2: 1 et seq.); if He is no longer accepted through the breath, then after descending from heaven, He is not in different languages. So, why is He first given to the disciples on earth, and then sent from heaven, if not because the two commandments of love, namely: love for God, and love for one's neighbor y? - The Spirit is bestowed on earth in order to love one's neighbor; and the Spirit is sent down from heaven in order to love God. Consequently, as one love and two commandments, there is one Spirit and two gifts. The first is from the Lord abiding on earth, the last from heaven; because the love of neighbor hides the doctrine of how to achieve love for God. Therefore, the same John says: do not love your brother, as he is, God, not as it is that you can love (1 John. 4:20)? Although before the same Spirit was present in the hearts of the disciples, tuning them to faith, but despite this, it was explicitly bestowed only after resurrection. Therefore, it is written: the Holy Spirit is not with God, for Jesus is not glorified among God (John 7:39). "
