"Хорошо, допустим теперь, что все церкви впали в заблуждение, что и апостол был введен в заблуждение, давая о некоторых хорошее свидетельство, что Дух Святой ни об одной из них не имел попечения, чтобы наставить ее на истину, - Дух, для того посланный Христом и испрошенный у Отца, чтобы быть учителем истины. Пренебрег-де своей обязанностью управитель Божий, наместник Христа, попустивший церквям тем временем иначе понимать, иначе верить, чем Он Сам проповедовал через апостолов. Да разве правдоподобно, чтобы столь многие и великие церкви заблуждались в одной и той же вере? То, что происходит среди многих людей, не имеет одинакового результата. поэтому ошибки в учении церкви должны были разниться. То же, что у многих оказывается единым, - не заблуждение, а предание."
