В лихие 90-е шведский юноша с глазами горящими Кристофер Йонссон играл самый обыкновенный, классический и суровый дэт-металл, без всяких «мелодик» и прочих соплей (ну, может быть, немного с уклоном сторону трэша). Но поскольку в те годы в Скандинавии такую музыку играл каждый второй (а кто не играл, либо был бывшим участником АББЫ, либо получал звезды от продвинутой норвежской молодежи), то успехом Йонссон особенно не пользовался. Однако шло время, Кристофер взрослел, его холодное сердце добрело, а музыка становилась все мелодичнее и мелодичнее. Поворотным стал 1996 год, когда вышел альбом «Theli» - считающийся первым альбомом новорожденного стиля симфо-металл. Тогда-то у группы Therion и «поперло».
Если оставаться занудой (а я зануда), то идея скрестить тяжелые гитары с пронзительным женским вокалом и «скрипочками» в те годы буквально витала в воздухе. Уже год спустя, в 1997-м, увидели свет дебютные альбома сразу трех культовых симфо-металла групп - «Nightwish», «Rhapsody of Fire» и «Within Temptation», а мода на жанр распространилась по тяжелой сцене, как черная смерть по средневековой Европе. Но «нулевым пациентом» был Йонссон, более того, спустя годы он остается одним из самых ревностных «хранителей» основ стиля, им же рожденного. В чем секрет? Наверное, в том, что Кристофер – слабый гитарист, слабый вокалист... но удивительно одаренный композитор, способный объединить вокруг себя крутых музыкантов, зажечь их идеей и скромно держаться в уголочке. Он примерно так и держался весь концерт. Кстати, о концерте.
Я вообще, когда набиваю пару слов в довесок к фоточкам, то особо не парюсь, пишу первое, что в голову взбредет, но все-таки стараюсь блюсти некую объективность. И фразы: «такое говнище с гитарами, что я чуть не сблевал, от их убогости» заменяю на что-то вроде: «Печальные, не молодые и помятые жизнью эскаписты, пестующие свои юношеские фантазии и пытающиеся научиться играть музыку позавчерашнего дня». Ну, вы понимаете ;) Так вот, в случае с концертом Therion, ну их в жопу, эти условности, поэтому просто и как есть – они вышли на сцену и я о.уел! Просто о.уел! Мощная, мелодичная и люто эпичная музыка, «над дней» три восхитительных голоса, а на сцене бесконечный круговорот трех певцов – двух симпатичных девушек и одного не молодого, но дико крутого мужика (Кстати, одна из девушек – его дочь. Зажрались они там, в Швеции. Даже голоса по наследству передают!). И это «накачивает» эмоциями не хуже, чем стадионники супер-групп. И дико вставляет! После знатоки мне насвистели в уши, дескать Therion уже не тот, дескать песни не те, дескать раньше было ууу. Но я был первый раз, был напрочь сметен энергией этого коллектива и у меня теперь одна мысль – почему я раньше-то на них не ходил? Как-то вот так-то??? При том, что зритель я очень искушенный!
Короче, приедут снова – я пойду. Кстати, думаю, что приедут скоро. На концерте музыканты рассказали, что в ближайшем будущем будет закончена рок-опера (!) по мотивам творчества русского философа Владимира Соловьева (!!!). Даже пару песен новых сыграли. Клевых таких =)))

A year later, in 1997, the debut albums of three cult symphonic metal bands “Nightwish”, “Rhapsody of Fire” and “Within Temptation” were released, and the fashion for the genre spread throughout the difficult scene, like a black death in medieval Europe. But Jonsson was the “null patient”; moreover, years later he remains one of the most zealous “keepers” of the foundations of the style he was born with. What's the secret? Probably, Christopher is a weak guitar player, a weak vocalist ... but an amazingly gifted composer, able to unite cool musicians around him, ignite them with an idea and modestly stay in a corner. Powerful, melodic and fiercely epic music, “over the days” three delightful voices, and on the stage there is an endless cycle of three singers - two pretty girls and one not young, but wildly tough guy (By the way, one of the girls is his daughter. They got there, in Sweden. Even the inheritance of the vote passed!). And this “pumps” emotions no worse than stadium players of super-groups. And wildly inserts! After the connoisseurs whistled in my ears, they say Therion is not the same, they say the songs are not the same, they said it was yoo. But I was the first time, I was completely swept away by the energy of this team and now I have one thought - why didn’t I go to them before? Something like this ???
