Abney Park - очаровательные американские эскаписты из Сиэтла. Десять лет они играли готику (ууууу, готику) и, видимо, не очень удачно. Потому что в середине нулевых лидер группы Роберт Браун смыл с лица белый грим и кардинально изменил ориентацию своего коллектива (только коллектива). Abney Park провозгласили себя стим-панк-группой и, надо сказать, действительно заиграли музыку вполне себе соотносящуюся с этим крайне милым и несправедливо малопопулярным стилем фэнтези. Более того, они оказались чуть-ли не единственными стим-панк музыкантами, что даже странно, потому что угорать по футуристическим механизмам и странным устройствам как-то прикольнее, чем по хоббитам и прочей мутотени, которую эксплуатирует куча металл и не очень групп. А может - это мне диплом инженера мыслить мешает.
Короче, год назад Abney Park круто выступали в набитом до отказа клубе Backstage, в этот раз заехали в Зал Ожидания. С хорошим звуком они звучали гораздо эклектичнее: тут вам и рок-н-ролльчик, и «готический след», и цыганско-балканско-еврейские мотивы, и кантри и даже «шансончег». И как в прошлый раз сильнейшее влияние на выступление оказывал настрой музыкантов. Только если год назад, ошарашенные невероятно теплым приемом в России (о чем музыканты писали в своих блогах), они «ядерно жгли», то в этот выглядели усталыми и замученными. И как ни старались, огня дать не сумели. И было не то, чтобы плохо, но как-то... слишком обычно. Неужели это все из-за санкций?
p.s. и еще там был разогрев. настолько адский, что я даже название запомнил - юля кроу. Увидите где на афише, бегите со всех ног. А то кровь из ушей и глаз может пойти от этого звездеца.

Abney Park are charming American escapists from Seattle. For ten years they played gothic (uuuuu, gothic) and, apparently, not very successfully. Because in the middle of the 2000s, the leader of the group, Robert Brown, washed away the white makeup from his face and radically changed the orientation of his team (only the team). Abney Park proclaimed themselves a steam-punk band and, I must say, really played music that matches its extremely sweet and unfairly less popular fantasy style. Moreover, they turned out to be almost the only steam-punk musicians, which is even strange, because it’s somehow funnier to burn on futuristic mechanisms and strange devices than on hobbits and other mutotheny, which are used by a bunch of metal and not very groups. Or maybe it’s an engineering diploma that prevents me from thinking.
In short, a year ago, Abney Park performed abruptly at the backstage club, which was packed to capacity, this time we stopped at the Waiting Room. With a good sound, they sounded much more eclectic: here you have rock and roll, and the “Gothic track”, and gypsy-Balkan-Jewish motifs, and country and even “chansong”. And as last time, the mood of the musicians had a great influence on the performance. Only if a year ago, dumbfounded by the incredibly warm welcome in Russia (which the musicians wrote about on their blogs), they “burned nuclear”, then this one looked tired and tortured. And no matter how hard they tried, they failed to give fire. And it was not that bad, but somehow ... too usual. Is it really because of the sanctions?
p.s. and there was also a warm-up. so hellish that I even remember the name - Julia Crow. See where on the poster, run as fast as you can. And then the blood from the ears and eyes can come from this star.
