Мне кажется, что эти слова выражают основу диалога вообще. Прежде чем осудить высказывание собеседника- придумай ему "хорошее истолкование".

It seems to me that these words express the basis of the dialogue in general. Before condemning the statement of the interlocutor, think of a "good interpretation" for him.
