На севере, если выйти из города Нур, можно придти к горам, где текут ледяные реки. Если два дня идти в сторону горы Айгар, и у ручья, который называется Ун (что означает «ключ»), повернуть на восток и идти ещё день, то выйдешь к ущелью. Оно называется Большое. На краю этого ущелья стоит башня Зиран-Тар, и она одна из тех башен, которые строили каменнокрылые звёзды, и она связана их словами.
Она настолько огромна, что давно рухнула внутрь себя, не выдержав запредельной тяжести камней гитрин и дитрин, и о том говорится в «Книге малых славословий»: «Сила-Ауру и тяжесть-Дурру камня спорили, и победила тяжесть-Дурру». Но Рифи, нерождённый, последний из звёзд, у которых каменные крылья и вместо сердца — солёная морская вода, сказал новые слова, и сотворил камень Зир. Камень Зир парит высоко над башней — на высоте сорока локтей над её вершиной, и взызвает её камни к себе. От того она не рушится, но стоит, чёрным стволом стремясь вверх, и называется: «Башня камня Зир» — Зиран-Тар.
Рифи, нерождённый, сказал так:
— Слова влюблённых, беспокоящие гнев небесной тверди, будут подниматься через камень Зир, и оттого он будет стремиться наверх. И так будет установлена память о моих братьях-звёздах с крыльями из камней гитрин и дитрин, которых я предал у Идры, быстрой реки.
Камень Зир действительно выглядит не так, как другие камни и точно также вся башня как бы темнее, даже когда светит полуденное солнце. Ибо камни гитрин и дитрин неподвластны Утуку-Солнцу, но старше его.
Когда случаются войны, и мужи, любящие своих жён гибнут от мечей других мужей, слова влюблённых не поднимаются к небесной тверди и башня клонится к земле, ибо камень Зир теряет свою силу. Но затем рождаются новые дети, и они говорят новые слова любви, и башня Зиран-Тар снова поднимается как чёрный ствол на севере.

Камни гитрин и дитрин устроены так, что могут помнить и видеть. Тёмное серые, никогда не тёплые, они помнят тех, кто их создал и не могут простить Солнцу-Утуку его свет, и Йарку-Луне его закон — ибо так был убит Ипсу-океан.

The Zir stone really does not look like other stones, and in the same way the whole tower is as if darker, even when the midday sun is shining. For the stones of guitars and dithrin are not subject to the Utuk Sun, but older than him.
When wars happen, and men who love their wives die from the swords of other husbands, the words of lovers do not rise to the firmament of the heavens and the tower slopes to the ground, for the Zir stone loses its strength. But then new children are born, and they say new words of love, and Ziran-Tar tower rises again like a black trunk in the north.
