Группа существует уже более двадцати лет и в свое время влияние стиля, открытого Suns of Arqa испытали такие «монстры» как Transglobal Underground, The Orb, Loop Guru, Afro-Celt Sound System. После выпуска дебютной пластинки (1979 год) - «Revenge of the Mozabites» - прошло три года, прежде чем она попала в руки Питера Гэбриела, который пригласил группу выступить на первом WOMAD (World of Music& Dance) фестивале. Поскольку музыка Suns of Arqa эклектична по определению, состав группы также весьма разнородный: поэт из Манчестера John Cooper Clarke, профессор-лингвист Stanley Unwin, известный флейтист Tim Wheater, легендарный ди-джей из Ямайки Prince Far-I. Все проекты группы чрезвычайно интересны.
