Последнее время все чрезвычайно озабочены патриотизмом. Со всех сторон только и слышно: критиковать непатриотично, либералы не патриоты, не критиковать - непатриотично, только либералы - настоящие патриоты. И мне подумалось: неужели патриотизм - это настолько важно, чуть ли не основа государства?
Если это так, и наша страна держится на патриотизме, мне это кажется не слишком эффективным. Патриотизм, любовь к родине - чувство, как и любое другое чувство оно - ненадежная основа для построения такой сложной конструкции, как современное государство. На мой взгляд, куда лучше, чтобы основой государства была ВЫГОДА людей. Эмоции людей переменчивы, но если человек понимает, что существование государства выгодно ему, что процветание его страны напрямую связано с его благополучием - он будет совершенно естественно соизмерять свои действия с интересами общества. Мне кажется, острота дискуссии о патриотизме - пережиток монархического и советского представления о сакральности государства и приоритете абстрактных интересов государства над интересами людей.
К сожалению, как, на мой взгляд, доказывает наша политическая система, ставка государства на патриотизм приводит к следующему: государство опирается на меньшинство людей, которые по каким-то причинам искренне испытавают эмоциональную привязанность к государству, что для меня непонятно, но хотя бы честно, и на большинство, которое симулирует патриотизм (та же дума: все насквозь патриоты, но дети у многих за рубежом). Последняя группа мне представляется не слишком надежной опорой, сложно опираться на лжецов и лицемеров.
Любовь и почтение к государству, которых от нас добивается власть, напоминают отношения родителя и неразумного чада. Не лучше ли, чтобы между народом и государством были взаимно уважительные партнерские отношения, а чувства пусть правят бал в частной жизни?

It seems to me that the acuteness of the discussion about patriotism is a relic of the monarchical and Soviet ideas about the sacredness of the state and the priority of the abstract interests of the state over the interests of people.
Unfortunately, as, in my opinion, our political system proves, the state’s stake on patriotism leads to the following: the state is based on a minority of people who for some reason sincerely experience emotional attachment to the state, which is not clear to me, but at least honestly , and for the majority that pretends to be patriotism (the same thought: all are patriots through and through, but many have children abroad). The latter group seems to me not too reliable support, it is difficult to rely on liars and hypocrites.
Love and reverence for the state, which the authorities seek from us, resemble the relations of the parent and the unreasonable child. Is it not better that there is a mutually respectful partnership between the people and the state, and let the feelings rule the ball in private life?
