В начале прошлого года мне довелось установить точную дату гибели бывшего главнокомандующего армиями русского Западного фронта Первой мировой войны генерала Алексея Ермолаевича Эверта. Его вывели из Можайской тюрьмы под предлогом этапирования в Москву и убили ровно сто лет назад - 12 ноября 1918 года, на следующий день после окончания Первой мировой войны.

Статья привела к удивительной встрече и не менее важной находке. Я познакомился с праправнучкой генерала Иреной Эверт из Санкт-Петербурга. Завязалась переписка, из которой выяснилось, что в семье Ирены хранится уникальный документ - дневник генерала за 1918 год, повествующий о его жизни в Советской России и тюремных мытарствах.
И вот к столетию гибели генерала Эверта удалось опубликовать отрывки из этого дневника. Ведется работа над полной публикацией.

At the beginning of last year, I happened to establish the exact date of the death of General Aleksei Ermolaevich Evert, the former commander-in-chief of the armies of the Russian Western Front of the First World War. The article led to an amazing meeting and an equally important find. I met the great-great-granddaughter of General Irena Evert from St. Petersburg. Correspondence ensued, from which it turned out that Irena’s family kept a unique document - the general’s diary for 1918, telling about his life in Soviet Russia and prison trials.
And by the centenary of the death of General Evert, it was possible to publish excerpts from this diary. Work is underway on the full publication.
