Ба-бам! 2011 год, 450 магов-месмеров танцуют привычный Танец Приворота, но что-то идет не так, иллюзия не складывается, замки из клубов гашишного дыма развеиваются холодным арктическим ветром, на опиумных трубках выступает иней, люди выходят на улицы, и впервые за 90 с лишним лет их лица трезвы, их глаза ясны, их мысли — чисты. Великий Магистр Сурков падает, разоблаченные месмеры дышат густыми клубами ужаса, но на русский народ, рассерженный русский народ напускают меняющих форму ящериц с Юггота (то оппозиционер, то вице-премьер, то либеральный политик, то попутчик власти — тысячи масок, тысячи шкур, не ухватишь, не уследишь — неизменна лишь остающаяся висеть в пустоте довольная чеширская улыбка), и они уводят народ с Желтой Тропинки к Реальности в щерящиеся ядовитыми кристаллами пещеры Уныния и Безнадежности.
