Святитель Парфений, епископ Лампсакийский, был родом из города Мелитополя (Малая Азия), где его отец Христофор служил диаконом. Юноша не был научен грамоте, но хорошо усвоил Божественное Писание, присутствуя в храме при богослужениях. У него было доброе сердце и, занимаясь рыболовством, он вырученные деньги раздавал нищим. Исполненный благодати Божией, святой Парфений с 18-ти лет именем Христовым врачевал болезни, изгонял бесов и творил другие чудеса. Узнав о добродетельной жизни юноши, Мелитопольский епископ Филипп дал ему образование и посвятил во пресвитера. В 325 году, в царствование Константина Великого, архиепископ Кизический Ахиллий поставил его епископом города Лампсака (Малая Азия). В городе было множество язычников, и святитель стал усердно распространять веру во Христа, утверждая ее по воле Божией многими чудесами и исцелениями больных. Люди стали отходить от языческих верований, и тогда святитель Парфений отправился к царю Константину Великому с просьбой дать ему власть разрушать идольские капища и строить на их месте христианские храмы. Царь принял святителя с честью, дал ему грамоту на разорение капищ и снабдил средствами для постройки храма. Возвратившись в Лампсак, святитель Парфений приказал разрушить идольские капища и посреди города воздвигнуть прекрасный Божий храм.
Найдя на одном из разоренных капищ большой камень, удобный для устроения святого престола в храме, святитель приказал обработать его и отвезти на строительство церкви. По злобе диавола, который возъярился за взятый из капища камень, повозка опрокинулась и камнем убило возничего Евтихиана. Святой Парфений воскресил его своей молитвой, и посрамил диавола, который хотел воспрепятствовать Божьему делу.
Милосердие святителя было так велико, что он не отказывал в исцелении никому из множества приходящих к нему или встречаемых им на дорогах людей, страждущих телесными недугами и одержимых нечистыми духами. Народ перестал обращаться к врачам, так как все болезни, во Имя Господа Иисуса Христа, безмездно исцелял святой Парфений. Великой силой Имени Христова изгнал святитель множество бесов из людей, домов, морских вод. Когда святитель изгонял беса из одного человека, одержимого им с детства, нечистый дух стал просить святого дать ему другое место обитания. Святой пообещал указать такое место и, открыв уста свои, сказал бесу: "Войди и обитай во мне". Диавол, как бы опаленный огнем, возопил: "Как я войду в дом Божий?", и скрылся в местах пустынных и непроходимых. Нечистый дух, изгнанный святителем из дома, где изготовлялись царские порфиры, кричал во всеуслышание, что Божественный огонь гонит его в геенну огненную.
Так, являя людям великую силу веры во Христа, святитель обратил множество идолопоклонников к истинному Богу.
Святитель Парфений скончался мирно и был торжественно погребен рядом с соборной церковью Лампсака, в построенной им самим часовне.

Он был в полном послушании у родителей и очень воздержан в пище. Часто он раздавал нищим всю свою еду и одежду, за что терпел упреки от родителей. Однажды он отдал нищим почти все семена, которые должен был посеять на своем поле, но Господь вознаградил его за милостыню: урожай был собран больше прежних.
Еще юношей он много и усердно молился. Его мать не однажды видела его стоящим во время молитвы не на земле, а на воздухе.
После смерти отца он тайно от матери ушел в Афины, где принял в монастыре постриг в иноческий чин. Но по молитве матери, которая очень тосковала о нем, Господь чудесным образом вернул его в отчий дом. Там он прожил всего четыре месяца и, утешив свою мать, уже с ее благословения удалился в уединенное место на Иоаннову гору, где была церковь во имя святых бессребреников Космы и Дамиана, в которой он и подвизался в непрестанной молитве и посте. Там он принял монашеское пострижение от старцев-паломников. После этого святой Лука усугубил свои подвиги, за что Господь удостоил его дара прозрения.
После семилетнего пребывания на Иоанновой горе преподобный из-за нашествия болгарских войск удалился в Коринф. Услышав о подвигах некоего столпника в Патрах, он отправился к нему и 10 лет служил подвижнику со смирением и покорностью. Затем святой снова возвратился на родину и опять стал подвизаться на Иоанновой горе.
Стекавшиеся туда во множестве люди нарушали его безмолвие, и преподобный Лука с благословения старца Феофилакта со своим учеником удалился в еще более пустынное место Калавие, откуда через три года из-за нашествия арабов переселился на пустынный и безводный остров Ампиль. Последним местом его подвигов стал Стирий (Сотерие). Здесь к преподобному собралась братия, и возник небольшой монастырь, церковь которого была освящена во имя святой великомученицы Варвары. Пребывая в обители, преподобный творил многие чудеса, исцеляя болезни душевные и телесные. Предвидя свою кончину, святой затворился в келлии и три месяца готовился к исходу. На вопрос, где его похоронить, преподобный ответил: "Бросьте тело мое на съедение зверям". Когда же братия просила его изменить завещание, он велел похоронить тело на том же месте, где он лежит. Со словами: "В руки Твои, Господи, предаю дух мой!" - преподобный Лука почил о Господе 7 февраля 946 года. Впоследствии на месте его погребения была воздвигнута церковь, а от его святых мощей истекало миро и происходили многие исцеления.

There were many pagans in the city, and the saint began to diligently spread faith in Christ, affirming it by the will of God with many miracles and healings of the sick. People began to move away from pagan beliefs, and then Saint Parthenius went to King Constantine the Great with a request to give him power to destroy idol's temples and build Christian churches in their place. The tsar received the saint with honor, gave him a letter to ruin the temples and provided means for the construction of the temple. Returning to Lampsac, St. Parthenius ordered the destruction of the idol's temples and in the middle of the city to erect a beautiful temple of God.
Finding a large stone on one of the ravaged temples, convenient for arranging the holy throne in the temple, the saint ordered to process it and take it to the construction of the church. Due to the anger of the devil, who rose up for the stone taken from the pagan temple, the cart overturned and killed the charioteer Eutychian with a stone. Saint Parthenius resurrected him with his prayer, and shamed the devil, who wanted to impede God's work.
The mercy of the saint was so great that he did not refuse to heal any of the many people who came to him or met him on the roads, suffering from bodily ailments and possessed by unclean spirits. The people stopped going to the doctors, because all the diseases, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, healed Saint Parthenius without compensation. By the great power of the Name of Christ, the saint expelled many demons from people, houses, and sea waters. When the saint cast out a demon from one person obsessed with him from childhood, the unclean spirit began to ask the saint to give him another dwelling place. The saint promised to indicate such a place and, opening his mouth, said to the demon: "Come in and dwell in me." The devil, as if seared by fire, cried out: “How will I enter the house of God?”, And hid in places deserted and impassable. The unclean spirit, banished by the saint from the house where the royal porphyries were made, shouted out loud that the Divine fire drives him into fiery hell.
Thus, revealing to people the great power of faith in Christ, the saint turned many idolaters to the true God.
Saint Parthenius died peacefully and was solemnly buried next to the Lampsac Cathedral Church, in the chapel built by him.
