Основополагающая идея учения о человеке епископом Игнатием взята у святого Апостола Павла. Человек – это храм. Его назначение – освящение, наполненность Святым Духом. Иначе этот "словесный" храм становится жилищем сил зла – демонов. Третьего не дано. Столь же резко Святитель разграничивает две линии развития мировой истории. Первую определяют те, кто стремится к Небу и земную жизнь считает временем покаяния, а самую землю – лишь временным пристанищем, страной изгнания из рая. Вторую линию составляют те, кто, забыв о покаянии и возвращении к Небу, нацелен на устроение земной жизни, на упрочение состояния грехопадения, приводящее, в конце концов, к полному подчинению "князю века сего" – диаволу.

Otherwise, this "verbal" temple becomes the home of the forces of evil - demons. There is no third. Equally sharply the Hierarch delimits two lines of development of world history. The first is determined by those who aspire to Heaven and consider earthly life as a time of repentance, and the earth itself as only a temporary refuge, a country of exile from paradise. The second line consists of those who, having forgotten about repentance and returning to Heaven, are aimed at arranging earthly life, at strengthening the state of the fall, which leads, in the end, to the complete submission to the “prince of this world” - the devil.
