Концерт This Will Destroy You (USA) в Санкт-Петербурге.
11 апреля в Санкт-Петербурге состоялся концерт американской post-rock команды This Will Destroy You. Почти два часа инструментальной музыки закручивающей в вихрь эмоций и прекрасный разогрев от питерских экспериментальщиков Ned Hoper сделали вечер не забываемым.
Группа this will destroy you образовалась в 2005 году в штате Техас, США и с тех пор выпустила два полноценных альбома, несколько EP и синглов. Группа горячо любима нашими поклонниками, и видимо, это взаимно, ведь минувший концерт стал третьим выступлением This Will Destroy You в городе на Неве. Стоит заметить, что группа эта на 100% концертная. Легкое, эмбиентное звучание меланхоличных композиций на записях в условиях концерта оборачивается безумным драйвом, характерным для более тяжелой музыки и способным без труда раскачать зал с первых же нот. Выступление группы можно было бы назвать эталонным для пост-рока: никакого общения с публикой, вообще никаких слов! Только музыка волнообразно заполняющая зал. Отзвучавшей концертной программы как всегда публике показалось мало - на бис группа отыграла еще несколько хитов.
Звучавшие на разогреве, Ned Hoper - коллектив сильно отличающийся по стилю от заявленного хэдлайна. Это поистине экспериментальная музыка, сочетающая в себе элементы пост-рока, но преимущественно звучащая электронно. На сцене, облаченные в белые лабораторные халаты, два клавишника (один из которых еще и трубач, и фронтмен), барабанщик, гитарист и виолончелист. На заднем плане - видеоряд, созданный из черно-белых мультипликационных обучающих фильмов о физике, а быть может о химии.
Резюмируя, хочется добавить, что данный концерт - это тот редкий случай, когда две абсолютно разные, но очень интересные группы на одной сцене хорошо дополнили друг друга и создали прекрасную атмосферу даже для вечера середины рабочей недели.

April 11 in St. Petersburg hosted a concert of the American post-rock team This Will Destroy You. Almost two hours of instrumental music twisting emotions into a whirlwind and wonderful warm-up from St. Petersburg experimental musicians Ned Hoper made the evening unforgettable.
The group this will destroy you was formed in 2005 in the state of Texas, USA and since then has released two full albums, several EPs and singles. The band is beloved by our fans, and apparently it is mutual, because the last concert was the third performance of This Will Destroy You in the city on the Neva. It is worth noting that this group is 100% concert. The light, ambient sounding of melancholic compositions on recordings in concert conditions turns into an insane drive, characteristic of heavier music and able to easily rock the hall from the very first notes. The performance of the group could be called a reference for post-rock: no communication with the public, no words at all! Only music wave filling the hall. The concert program, which had resounded as usual, seemed little to the public - the band played a few more hits for the encore.
Performed on the run, Ned Hoper is a band that is very different in style from the stated headline. This is truly experimental music, combining elements of post-rock, but mostly sounding electronically. On the stage, dressed in white lab coats, two keyboard players (one of whom is also a trumpeter and a frontman), a drummer, a guitarist and a cellist. In the background is a video series created from black-and-white animated educational films about physics, and perhaps about chemistry.
Summing up, I would like to add that this concert is a rare case when two completely different, but very interesting groups on the same stage complemented each other well and created a wonderful atmosphere even for the evening of the middle work week.
