И сообщение «Дождя» – попытка повлиять на это решение тех, кому сценарий выборов с оппозиционером не нравится. В то же время нынешний кремлевский куратор внутренней политики Сергей Кириенко, в отличие от Володина со товарищи, полагает, что участие Навального придаст выборам легитимность в глазах политических и деловых кругов Запада. А, кроме того, обеспечит выборам «драйв», что привлечет к ним внимание избирателей и повысит явку. Тогда даже оппозиционные круги не смогут говорить, что Владимир Путин был переизбран меньшей частью населения страны, а большая выборы просто проигнорировала. Между тем, по мнению некоторых экспертов, противодействие Володина этому сценарию связано не с личной неприязнью к Кириенко, а с опасениями части элиты, что участие Навального в президентских выборах предопределит главную тему избирательной кампании – борьбу с коррупцией. Здесь Путин даже может выглядеть более эффектно, поскольку у него есть возможность не просто разоблачать, но сажать коррупционеров. Но посадки высокопоставленных коррупционеров могут ударить по интересам ряда влиятельных фигур в верхах российской власти. И Володин выражает их интересы.
