Остатки осени.
На Коломяжском проспекте, недалеко от Сезона, окруженное забором и зарослями шиповника стоит необычное здание кирпичного цвета, увенчанное башенкой с часами и флюгером — это всё, что осталось от заложенного в 1888 г. Коломяжского ипподрома, прародителя Комендантского аэродрома.
Архитектор ипподрома — Л. Бенуа.
В 1892 г. здесь были проведены первые скачки. Стоит ли говорить, что ажиотаж был настолько велик, что публика играла на скачках, стоя за забором: смотрели в щели, забирались на плечи.
Ипподром существовал до революции, позже был демонтирован и превращён в склады.
Но есть ещё одна важная веха в жизни ипподрома, возможно, самая главная и самая важная: в 1909 г. была открыта история полетов на Коломяжском ипподроме авиатором Альбером Гюйо, а в 1910 г. здесь было проведено первое в Петербурге авиашоу, где в разгар праздника воздухоплавания произошла первая русская авиакатастрофа, в которой погиб авиатор Лев Макарович Мациевич (о месте гибели и памятнике я рассказывала в этом посте: https://vk.com/wall107225_19968). Его самолёт, по словам очевидцев, буквально развалился в воздухе. Именно его гибель подтолкнула Г. Е. Котельникова к изобретению ранцевого парашюта.
После этого находившееся рядом Комендантское поле (здесь была дача коменданта Петропавловской крепости), а позже — Комендантский аэродром — стало базой русской авиации.
Сейчас в здании бывшего ипподрома находятся столовая, кафе и учреждение, занимающееся организацией детского летнего отдыха. И ни слова об истории.

Remains of autumn.
On Kolomyazhsky Prospekt, not far from Sezona, surrounded by a fence and thickets of wild rose, there is an unusual brick-colored building topped with a turret with a clock and a weather vane - this is all that remains of the Kolomyazhsky hippodrome, the progenitor of the Commandant airfield, founded in 1888.
The architect of the hippodrome is L. Benois.
In 1892, the first races were held here. Needless to say, the excitement was so great that the audience played at the races, standing behind the fence: they looked through the cracks, climbed onto their shoulders.
The hippodrome existed before the revolution, was later dismantled and turned into warehouses.
But there is another important milestone in the life of the hippodrome, perhaps the most important and most important: in 1909 the history of flights at the Kolomyazh hippodrome was discovered by the aviator Albert Guyot, and in 1910 the first air show in St. Petersburg was held here, where at the height of the holiday aeronautics, the first Russian plane crash occurred, in which the aviator Lev Makarovich Matsievich died (I talked about the place of death and the monument in this post: https://vk.com/wall107225_19968). His plane, according to eyewitnesses, literally fell apart in the air. It was his death that pushed G. E. Kotelnikov to the invention of the knapsack parachute.
After that, the Commandant's field located nearby (here was the dacha of the commandant of the Peter and Paul Fortress), and later - the Commandant's airfield - became the base of Russian aviation.
Now the building of the former hippodrome houses a canteen, a cafe and an institution that organizes children's summer holidays. And not a word about history.
