Легендарная крепость Сан Анджело. Твердыня, долгие века защищавшая вход в мальтийскую гавань. Именно здесь, а не в Мдине, в центре острова, крестоносцы решили утвердиться, перенеся столицу в Биргу (напротив Валетты). Очень интересный рассказ об истории самой крепости (при общем, упомянутом выше минимализме мальтийских музеев в принципе). Они, в отличае от нас, не выделяют Вторую Мировую, а вписывают ее в общую ткань времени. "Осада Мальты" 1940 - 1943 года для них "Вторая осада, которую пережила крепость".
The legendary fortress of San Angelo. A stronghold that defended the entrance to the Maltese harbor for centuries. It was here, and not in Mdina, in the center of the island, that the crusaders decided to establish themselves by moving the capital to Birgu (opposite Valletta). A very interesting story about the history of the fortress itself (with the general minimalism of the Maltese museums mentioned above, in principle).
