"An estimated 120,000 to 150,000 survivors still struggle with serious medical conditions including nerve damage, growth problems, gynecological disorders, respiratory issues, birth defects, and elevated rates of cancer and tuberculosis."(2014)

When people start talking a lot about Chernobyl, I usually remember right away about the Bhopal catastrophe. And I never understand why so much attention to the first and so little to the second.

If direct victims in Chernobyl are about 100-200 people at once and about 4000 thousand in the course of life over the past many years, in India this is 4000 in one day and another 40,000 thousand immediately became disabled, 500000-700000 just had consequences.

"An estimated 120,000 to 150,000 survivors of disease and growth conditions." (2014)

For Chernobyl, of course, there is this table, where every cesium molecule was counted, even if it affected someone, but in India it didn’t even do that. In 2010, a British journalist visited this beautiful place, after which he came down from poisoning. Tellingly, the plant was simply abandoned. Nothing particularly fenced him. And in 2011 it became known that the plant all these years happily poisons groundwater.

Wonderful American effective managers of the UC company (not that our Soviet ghouls) simply boarded the GOVERNMENT aircraft when a disaster struck and flew off to the USA in order not to sit down. And, characteristically, they did not sit down. They sat down only their Indian colleagues.

In general, few Indians think so, why the fuck how many of them died and fell ill there. Fuck, how did the organization that arranged it all, etc. About this all HBO, probably, the series will never take off. Because it is one thing to show how inefficient and deceitful the system is in times of disasters in a country that has not been there for a long time, it’s another thing to kick a still-working company headquartered in Houston, Texas.

P.S. And, by the way, yes ... We like to say some here - "Do not poke badly at others, tell us how bad it is to make yourself better." For some reason, HBO also doesn’t want to talk about itself, wants to know how bad it is with others.
