«Открывая дверь, главное случайно не попасть на сцену!» — любимая шутка в Школе драматического искусства. Потому что здесь нет обычных театральных кулис, вместо сцены — манеж, вместо привычной темноты — повсюду свет.
Здание на Сретенке, по идее, архитектурно отображает экспериментальную концепцию театра. Внутри много воздуха, стеклянная крыша, пространство-трансформер, город в городе — с улицами, площадями, переулками, каждый из которых подходит для театрального действа. На удивление, об этом театре в самом центре города мало кто знает, поэтому здесь еще сохранилась уютная атмосфера и нет места пафосу.
На экскурсию мы попали бесплатно и так очаровались, что спонтанно остались на выступление хора ШДИ. И это тоже было совершенно не похоже на то, что обычно себе представляют, говоря про «выступление хора», не зря же он театральный.
Программа «Дороги мира» — вокальное путешествие от обрядовых песен балканских народов к ритуальным африканским песнопениям, от таинственных мелодий амазонских лесов – к афроамериканским спиричуэлс, от экзотических этно-стилей – к кавказским вокальным традициям и русскому духовно-обрядовому пению. И все это а капелла — просто фантастика!
Теперь интересно побывать на спектаклях театра :)»

“When opening the door, the main thing is not to accidentally get on stage!” - A favorite joke at the School of Dramatic Art. Because there are no ordinary theatrical scenes, instead of the stage there is an arena, instead of the usual darkness there is light everywhere.
The building on Sretenka, in theory, architecturally reflects the experimental concept of the theater. Inside there is a lot of air, a glass roof, a transforming space, a city in the city - with streets, squares, side streets, each of which is suitable for theatrical performance. Surprisingly, few people know about this theater in the very center of the city, therefore there is still a cozy atmosphere and there is no place for pathos.
We went on a tour for free and were so fascinated that we spontaneously stayed at the performance of the SDI choir. And this, too, was completely different from what they usually imagine when speaking of the “performance of the choir”, it is not for nothing that it is theatrical.
The World Roads program is a vocal journey from ritual songs of the Balkan peoples to ritual African chants, from mysterious melodies of the Amazonian forests to African American spirituals, from exotic ethnic styles to Caucasian vocal traditions and Russian spiritual and ritual singing. And all this and the chapel is just fantastic!
Now it’s interesting to visit the theater’s performances :) ”
