27 января - день полного снятия блокады Ленинграда.
Сегодня 75 годовщина этого события.
Есть было почти, а иногда совсем нечего, что же пили в войну? Я не могла не задавать себе этого вопроса как, человек, связанный с производством иван-чая. Ведь одно из самых свежих исторических упоминаний о нем относится как раз к годам ВОВ, когда фашисты сравняли с землей объект "Река жизни" в Копорье.
Сегодня день без чая трудно представить.
Однако в войну заварка, как впрочем и все остальное, была дефицитом.
Рассказывают, что подобие горячего напитка в войну делали из моркови. Корнеплод терли на тёрке и сушили вместе с чагой - это такой гриб. Он выглядит как нарост, чаще всего растёт на березах. От моркови чай получался сладковатым. А чага давала тёмный цвет. Но морковь и чага не самые распространенные находки в осажденном городе.
Ленинградцы вспоминают и другой напиток - блокадный "кофе". Жители города ходили на горящие Бадаевские склады - в первые дни блокады их разбомбили немцы. Там хранились запасы муки и сахара, поэтому от земли, как вспоминают, ещё долго шёл теплый воздух с запахом шоколада.

Люди собирали эту землю, потом растворяли её в воде. Когда она оседала, воду кипятили - получалась сладковатая коричневая жидкость - как слабый кофе. (Подтверждение в воспоминаниях в комментарии: https://vk.com/osobenii_ivan_chai?w=wall-34371714_661)
За водой, те кто мог еще передвигаться, ходили на Неву...

Leningraders recall another drink - the besieged "coffee". Residents of the city went to the burning Badayevsky depots - in the first days of the blockade, the Germans bombed them. Stocks of flour and sugar were stored there, so warm air with the smell of chocolate went on for a long time, as they recall.
