Тесей, уплывая на Крит биться с Минотавром, обещал своему отцу Эгею, царю Афин, вернуться под белыми парусами в случае победы. Если же его корабль придёт на чёрных парусах, это означало бы поражение и смерть Тесея. Именно на этом мысе Эгей ждал своего сына. Именно здесь он увидел корабль под чёрными парусами и именно отсюда он бросился в море, не зная, что Тесей жив. Согласно основной легенде Тесей просто забыл поменять паруса, расстроенный неизбежной разлукой с Ариадной. Но мне больше нравится версия советского мультфильма Лабиринт, что это была хитрость богов и на самом деле Тесей не согласился отдать Ариадну. Ее насильно забрали с корабля Тесея, а белые паруса сильным ветром боги унесли в море. Тесею ничего не оставалось, как вернуться на чёрных парусах. Помните этот мультфильм и легенду?
