После этого паразит заменяет язык рыбы, прикрепляя собственное тело к мышцам культи языка. Рыба может использовать паразита так же, как и нормальный язык, а паразит питается ее кровью и слизью. Это единственный известный случай, когда паразит функционально замещает собой орган хозяина.
