Джейсон де Кайрес Тейлор погружает под воду сотни своих скульптур – и фотографирует результаты.
«Пять лет назад на Гренаде, острове в Вест-Индии, мои занятия скульптурой, дайвингом, декором и фотографией сошлись в одно. Я понял, что подводные статуи могут помочь возродить экосистему залива. После того как правительство одобрило мой проект, он приобрел куда больший размах. Я погрузил под воду сотни своих работ – и сфотографировал результаты.
Я делаю набросок статуи, затем придумываю, как ее создать, транспортировать и установить с помощью кранов и команды рабочих. Через полгода после установки статуи я ее фотографирую – это самая интересная часть работы. Но и самая трудная. Соленая вода меняет ее форму; погода и свет непредсказуемы. Ныряльщики с масками, аквалангисты и туристы в лодках с прозрачным дном теперь могут видеть мои работы. Я надеюсь, им нравятся и скульптуры, и их местоположение – настоящее пересечение искусства, науки и окружающей среды.»

“Five years ago in Grenada, an island in the West Indies, my occupations of sculpture, diving, decoration and photography came together. I realized that underwater statues can help revive the ecosystem of the bay. After the government approved my project, it acquired a much larger scope. I submerged hundreds of my works - and photographed the results.
I sketch the statue, then figure out how to create, transport and install it using cranes and a team of workers. Six months after the installation of the statue, I photograph it - this is the most interesting part of the work. But also the most difficult. Salt water changes its shape; weather and light are unpredictable. Masked divers, scuba divers and tourists in boats with a transparent bottom can now see my work. I hope they like sculptures and their location is a real intersection of art, science and the environment. ”
