Россией правит Петербург. Очевидно, там и только там самые умные,талантливые, знающие люди.
Это я не про то, о чём вы могли подумать. Это я про историю. Судя по всему, именно в Петербурге трудятся самые лучшие историки, и именно они пишут самые лучшие книги. Примером тому - очередной Макариевский конкурс. Вот номинация "История России". В числе победителей - только "питерские". Все четыре премии поделили между собой Институт истории СП(б)ГУ и Санкт-Петербургский Институт истории РАН. Их сотрудники отметились ещё трижды (в номинациях "История православных стран" и "История Москвы и историческое краеведение"). Итого 7 из 19. Не один, не два. А сразу семь!
Странно? Скажете, что-то не так с конкурсной комиссией? Или что когда-то на Неве прогремел пассионарный взрыв, и его творческая волна наконец докатилась до нас в виде книг-победительниц?
Нет, конечно. Просто там, в "северной столице" - самые лучшие историки. Не то, что в нашей провинциальной Москве (о прочих местностях вообще умолчу). Что же, искренне порадуемся - и за них, и за всех нас, что есть в России Петербург.

Of course not. Just there, in the "northern capital" - the best historians. Not that in our provincial Moscow (I’m not mentioning other places in general). Well, we will sincerely rejoice - both for them, and for all of us that there is Petersburg in Russia.
