Бом-бом-бом! Кафедральный собор звонит 9 утра. Мы сладко спим в огромной квартире в центре старого города. Двустворчатые окна-двери раскрыты настежь и пропускают внутрь нашего жилища все перезвоны колоколов. Вчера было очень грустно покидать нашу тихую расслабленную Андалусию, но сегодняшнее волшебное пробуждение стерло печаль, будто бы ее и не было.
Поскольку живем мы как короли, ведь только короли живут среди соборов и церквей в хоромах с высоченными потолками и деревянными перегородками… Так вот поскольку живем мы как короли, завтракали мы не на своей шикарной кухне, а в городе. Снова нас порадовали мини-сэндвичи montaditos, испанские кофе и Tinto de verano и итальянское мороженное. С новыми силами мы отправились изучать новый город.
Валенсия, пожалуй, отличается от Барселоны своей архитектурой. С одной стороны, здесь все более традиционно (из-за отсутствия Гауди очевидно), а с другой, большинство объектов представляют собой потрясающую смесь стилей. Кафедральный собор Вознесения Девы Марии, как подсказывает мне путеводитель, это слияние французской готики, романского стиля, ренессанса, барокко и классицизма. Здесь и вытянутые вверх готические арки и перекрытия, и строгие колоны, и пышные витиеватые узоры, местами позолоченные, и рельефные изображения библейских сюжетов. Все вместе образует неописуемой красоты картину, приходится все время задирать голову и открывать рот от изумления.
Мы заглянули к Mercado Central (Главный рынок), рядом с которым располагается старинная биржа, где торговали шелками. Побывали на Plaza Ayuntamiento – просторная площадь с величественными зданиями мэрии и почты. Дальше прошли к вокзалу и арене, где раньше проводились бои быков. Кстати говоря, при получении ключей от апартаментов, мы получили так же и карту города, по которой очень удобно бродить.
В общем, в Европе старый город всегда хорош и настраивает на правильный лад любого любознательного путешественника. А еще во многих городах есть то, чем они друг от друга отличаются. В случае с Валенсией – это La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (Город искусств и наук). Где-то в конце 20-ого века губернатор города отдал часть высохшего русла река Турии на растерзание архитекторам Сантяго Калатраве и Феликсу Канделе. В результате этого судьбоносного решения город получил какой-то космический архитектурный комплекс, включающий в себя 5 основных зданий, объединенных множество галерей и водоемов. Здесь находится так называемая Hemisferic, где в IMAX на огромный полусферический потолок проектируются научно-популярные фильмы. Также музей наук принца Филиппа, самый большой в Европе океанографический музей и Дворец искусств королевы Софии – гигантский оперный театр. Завтра мы попробуем заглянуть внутрь океанографического музея, если нас не переманит зоопарк, точнее биопарк. А сегодня мы просто гуляли и наслаждались творениями явно внеземных цивилизаций, а никаких не простых смертных архитекторов.
Геометрия строений не поддается никакому логическому объяснению. Дуги всех размеров и направлений хаотично, но вместе с тем гармонично пересекаются друг с другом. Мы снова задираем головы и открываем рот. Вот она современная Европа: сохраняя старину, создает все новые и новые великолепия!
Так, в районе 8 вечера наша культурная программа окончилась, и мы отправились на автобусе домой, чтобы передохнуть перед походом в ночной город. Ведь сегодня день рождения у Коли, так что нас ждет торжественный ужин в ресторане Wok и бары на берегу моря!

Bom-bom-bom! The Cathedral calls 9 am. We sleep sweetly in a huge apartment in the center of the old city. Double-winged window-doors are wide open and allow all bells to ring inside our dwelling. Yesterday it was very sad to leave our quiet, relaxed Andalusia, but today's magical awakening erased the sadness, as if it did not exist.
Because we live like kings, because only kings live among cathedrals and churches in mansions with high ceilings and wooden partitions ... So, since we live like kings, we had breakfast not in our chic kitchen, but in the city. Again we were delighted with the montaditos mini sandwiches, Spanish coffee and Tinto de verano and Italian ice cream. With new strength, we went to explore the new city.
Valencia, perhaps, differs from Barcelona in its architecture. On the one hand, it is becoming more traditional (due to the lack of Gaudi obviously), and on the other hand, most of the objects are an amazing mix of styles. The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, as the guide tells me, is a fusion of French Gothic, Romanesque, Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism. Here and elongated gothic arches and ceilings, and strict columns, and lush ornate patterns, sometimes gilded, and relief images of biblical scenes. Everything together forms an indescribable beauty of the picture, you have to always raise your head and open your mouth in amazement.
We looked to the Mercado Central (Main Market), next to which is located the old exchange, where they traded in silks. We visited Plaza Ayuntamiento, a spacious square with magnificent city hall and post office buildings. Then they went to the station and the arena, where the bulls were held earlier. By the way, when we received the keys to the apartment, we also received a map of the city, on which it is very convenient to wander.
In general, in Europe, the old city is always good and adjusts to the right mood of any curious traveler. And in many cities there is something in which they differ from each other. In the case of Valencia, it is La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences). Somewhere at the end of the 20th century, the governor of the city gave part of the dried riverbed of the Turia River to be torn apart by the architects Santyago Calatrava and Felix Candela. As a result of this fateful decision, the city received some kind of space architectural complex, which includes 5 main buildings, combined many galleries and reservoirs. Here is the so-called Hemisferic, where popular-science films are projected onto a huge hemispherical ceiling in IMAX. Also the Museum of Sciences of Prince Philip, Europe’s largest oceanographic museum and the Queen Sofia Palace of the Arts, is a giant opera house. Tomorrow we will try to look inside the oceanographic museum, if the zoo does not entice us, or rather the biopark. And today we just walked around and enjoyed the creations of obviously extraterrestrial civilizations, and no ordinary mortal architects.
The geometry of the buildings defies any logical explanation. Arcs of all sizes and directions are chaotic, but at the same time harmoniously intersect with each other. We look up again and open our mouths. Here it is modern Europe: while preserving the old, it creates more and more new splendor!
So, around 8 pm, our cultural program ended, and we went by bus home to take a break before going to the night city. After all, today is Kolya's birthday, so we are waiting for a gala dinner at the Wok restaurant and bars by the sea!
