Человек не в силах выпить всю реку, но он может пить воду понемногу. Человек не может прямо смотреть на солнце, но он может жить при его свете. Также человек не может полностью постичь Бога, но он может понемногу узнавать о Нём в соответствии с мерой своего ума, и для его духовной жизни богопознание так же необходимо, как для телесной жизни - пить воду и жить при солнечном свете.
Учение о Святой Троице приоткрыло внутреннюю жизнь единого Бога. Именно через тайну Триединства становится ясной та истина, что Бог есть любовь (1Ин. 4:8). Лица Пресвятой Троицы вечно пребывают друг с другом в непрерывном общении любви. Поэтому блаженный Августин сказал: "Тайна христианской троичности - это тайна Божественной любви. Ты видишь Троицу, если видишь любовь". "Если бы у нас, - говорит святой Григорий Богослов, - кто спросил: что мы чествуем и чему покланяемся? Ответ готов: мы чтим любовь". Любовь вне общения, то есть самолюбование, не есть любовь. Самолюбие - это эгоизм, болезненное извращение любви, которое порождает грех. Любовь настоящая есть всегда любовь к другому.
О триединстве Бога говорит и Его слово - Библия. Так, в момент крещения Иисуса Христа: отверзлось небо, и Дух Святой сошёл на Него в телесном виде, как голубь, и был голос с небес, говорящий: Ты Сын Мой возлюбленный, в Тебе Мое благоволение (Лк. 3:21-22). Голос Отца слышен с Небес, Сын стоит в водах Иордана, Дух сходит на Сына.
Иисус Христос говорил о Себе: Я - Сын Божий (Ин. 10:36), Меня прославляет Отец Мой, о Котором вы говорите, что Он Бог ваш (Ин. 8:54). И о Своем единстве с Отцом: всё, что имеет Отец, есть Моё (Ин. 16:15), видевший Меня, видел Отца (Ин 14:9), Я и Отец - одно (Ин 10:30). А также свидетельствовал о Духе Святом: Который от Отца исходит (Ин. 14:16-17;15;26). Посылая учеников на проповедь, Он говорит им: Идите, научите все народы, крестя их во имя Отца и Сына и Святого Духа (Мф. 28:19)

A person is not able to drink the whole river, but he can drink a little water. A person cannot look directly at the sun, but he can live in his light. Also, a person cannot fully comprehend God, but he can learn a little about Him in accordance with the measure of his mind, and for his spiritual life, knowledge of God is just as necessary as for bodily life - to drink water and live in sunlight.
The doctrine of the Holy Trinity revealed the inner life of one God. It is through the mystery of the Trinity that the truth becomes clear that God is love (1 John 4: 8). The faces of the Holy Trinity are eternally abiding with each other in a continuous communion of love. Therefore, Blessed Augustine said: “The secret of the Christian trinity is the secret of Divine love. You see the Trinity if you see love.” “If we have,” says St. Gregory the Theologian, “who asked: what do we honor and worship? The answer is ready: we honor love.” Love outside of communication, that is, narcissism, is not love. Selfishness is egoism, a painful perversion of love that engenders sin.
