Памяти архимандрита Адриана (Кирсанова)
Сегодня, на 40-й день, когда душа последнего, – как называют архимандрита Адриана (Кирсанова), – псково-печерского старца, покинув земные пределы, переселилась на Небо, мы решили не просто опубликовать воспоминания о подвижнике, но привести некий практикум: как обращаться к старцам, что необходимо, чтобы Господь старцев являл, и, наконец, как самим подвизаться в их память.
...Говорят: «Не ищите святых, ищите кротких». Вот старцы и имели такое устроение, простоту душевную, любовь к людям. Хотя какие отец Кирилл да отец Адриан тогда были старцы? Им всего-то в то время по 50 с лишним было. Но поскольку я тогда сам еще был слишком молод, мне они уже представлялись умудренными стариками, испытанными воинами Христовыми.
Они были требовательными, прежде всего, к себе. Во всем себя ограничивали. Самопринуждали. Царствие небесное нудится [силою берется], и нуждницы [употребляющие усилие] восхищают е (Мф. 11, 12). Подвиг очищает сердце, – человек тогда приходит в состояние бесстрастия, и уже в свободное от скверны сердце нисходит благодать. Что сказал Христос апостолам в Своей прощальной беседе (Ин. 13, 31;16, 33)? Вы уже очищены через слово, которое Я проповедал вам (Ин. 15, 3). Надо постоянно читать Священное Писание, – это и отличало старцев отца Кирилла и отца Адриана от многих других. Именно тем, кто очищен через Слово, Господь и заповедует: оставайтесь в городе Иерусалиме (Лк. 24, 49), – с обетованием: облечетесь силою свыше.
Святитель Игнатий (Брянчанинов) называл духовными людьми только тех, кто пережил это обновление Духом Святым. Вот здесь-то и начинается подлинная молитва – духовный рост и преуспеяние. Почему старцы (или те, кто еще станет старцем) постоянно в подвиге пребывали? Да потому что малейшее расслабление – каких бы ты высот уже не достиг, – ведет к падению! А отцы потихоньку, под руководством опытных, втягивались в подвиг, и тогда уже во внутренней своей брани постигали, что чем больше подвиг – тем больше благодати, тем ближе они к Богу. Это грех любит дебелость плоти, враг науськивает, чтобы мы себя пожалели, съели что-нибудь повкуснее, отдохнули как следует... А взыскательности к себе, строгости, бодрствования, воздержания, бдительности над собой – бесы и страсти бегают. Это именно те решающие качества, которые и отличали старцев. А все остальное было уже дано от Бога, – это плоды подвига. Как сказано в Писании: благодать на благодать (Ин. 1, 16). Тогда уже подвижникам от силы в силу (Пс. 83, 8) открываются таинства духовного мира.

They were demanding, first of all, to themselves. They limited themselves in everything. Self-enforcement. The kingdom of heaven is bored [by force], and the needy [those who use force] delight e (Matt. 11, 12). The feat cleanses the heart, - then a person enters into a state of dispassion, and grace descends into a heart free from contamination. What did Christ say to the apostles in his farewell conversation (John 13, 31; 16, 33)? You are already cleansed through the word that I preached to you (John 15: 3). We must constantly read the Holy Scriptures, and this distinguished the elders of Father Cyril and Father Adrian from many others. It is to those who are cleansed through the Word that the Lord commands: remain in the city of Jerusalem (Lk. 24, 49), with the promise: you will be clothed with power from above.
Saint Ignatius (Brianchaninov) called spiritual people only those who survived this renewal by the Holy Spirit. This is where genuine prayer begins - spiritual growth and prosperity. Why did the elders (or those who still become an elder) were constantly in a feat? Yes, because the slightest relaxation - no matter what heights you have already reached - leads to a fall! And the fathers slowly, under the guidance of experienced ones, were drawn into a feat, and then they realized in their own internal battle that the greater the feat, the more grace, the closer they are to God. This sin loves the retribution of the flesh, the enemy taunts us to pity ourselves, to eat something tastier, to rest properly ... But self-discipline, severity, wakefulness, temperance, vigilance over oneself - demons and passions run. These are precisely the decisive qualities that distinguished the elders. And everything else has already been given from God - these are the fruits of the feat. As the scripture says: grace to grace (John 1, 16). Then the sacraments of the spiritual world are already revealed to ascetics from strength to strength (Psalm 83, 8).
