Раби Раяц говорил: – Когда освободили Старого Ребе из Петропавловской крепости, был поздний вечер 19 кислева. Спросили у него, где он желает ночевать. «В доме реб Мордхэ Лепелера», – ответил Ребе. В том же доме жил большой противник хасидизма р. Нотэ Ноткин. По ошибке жандармы привели Ребе в квартиру Ноткина. Пока хасиды нашли Ребе, прошло три часа. Все это время Ноткин излагал Ребе свои претензии к хасидизму. Позднее Ребе говорил, что эти три часа были для него большим мучением, чем заключение в Петропавловской крепости.

Rabbi Rajac said: - When the Old Rebbe was freed from the Peter and Paul Fortress, it was late evening on Kislev 19. They asked him where he wants to spend the night. “At the house of Reb Mordhe Lepelera,” the Rebbe answered. In the same house there lived a great opponent of Hasidism p. Note Notkin. By mistake, the gendarmes brought the Rebbe to Notkin’s apartment. Three hours passed before the Hasidim found the Rebbe. All this time, Notkin stated to the Rebbe his claims to Hasidism. Later the Rebbe said that these three hours were more torment for him than imprisonment in the Peter and Paul Fortress.
