В околонаучных блогах часто вижу нытье про то, что без современного оборудования невозможно заниматься современными проблемами науки. Считаю это на 80% фигней.
Конечно, Mega Science и лютую ядерщину на старом барахле не сделать, но только на одном физфаке СПбГУ найдется несколько сотен людей, которые публикуются в хороших журналах (а это основной показатель), работая на старом говне.
Да, бабла не хватает катастрофически. Да, все плохо с оборудованием. Да, надо обновлять базу. Но не это главное. Главное - иметь руки не из жопы, знать, для чего и чем именно ты занимаешься, а не бегать от темы к теме - там где популярней тема туда и побежал за бабками...
А по части финансов на покупку оборудования - мое личное мнение, что эту статью расходов надо на 50% раздать людям, чтоб работалось веселей на том что есть. И результат будет.
Наши статьи в приличных журналах (JalCom, Hydrogen Energy et.c) из списка Web of Science сделаны вообще вот на таком вот самопальном хламе:
