Черкеска или чоха является частью национального костюма жителей Северного Кавказа, Грузии, северного Азербайджана, казаков.
С удивлением прочитал в вики, что черкеска бытует на Кавказе с девятого (!) века . Это , конечно, неправда. Если подразумевать привычную форму черкески, приталенную, с застёжками и газырями - это 18 век.
И еще. Любопытно, что черкеской это одежда называется не потому, что была придумана черкесами (лезгинку тоже создали не лезгины), а потому что ее так назвали русские. Сами кавказцы никогда черкеску черкеской не называли.

I was surprised to read on the wiki that Circassian life has existed in the Caucasus since the ninth (!) Century. This, of course, is not true. If you mean the usual shape of Circassian, fitted, with clasps and gaps - this is the 18th century.
And further. It is curious that Circassian clothing is not called because it was invented by the Circassians (Lezgins were also created not by Lezghins), but because the Russians called it that way. Caucasians themselves never called Circassians Circassians.
