Базилика Notre-Dame de la Garde - самая посещаемая туристами достопримечательность Марселя. И неудивительно, ведь ее нельзя не заметить, она находится в самой высокой точке города. Построенная в 1214 году часовня была переделана в церковь, а затем уже в 19-ом веке на том же месте возвели собор. Колокольню украшает 11-метровая позолоченная статуя девы Марии с младенцем на руках. Она считается главной защитницей Марселя. Подъем на такую крутую гору дело непростое, благо на самый верх ходят автобусы, но как они вписываются в повороты, совершенно непонятно. Ехать в такую высь стоит хотя бы ради потрясающих видов: как на ладони весь Марсель со старым портом, острова, горы и побережье
