Различие первое.
Недавно я начала учиться в магистратуре Брайтонского университета (что в Великобритании) и уже начинаю находить различия в том, что такое «архитектура» здесь и у нас. Здесь, видимо, решен спор между приверженцами «украшательства» и функционалистами. Здесь главное – это человек и то, как он взаимодействует с другими человеками. Об этом, правда, как-то напрямую нам не говорят, однако весь стиль общения или рассуждения о разных архитектурных вещах строится так, что «человек» и его важность является аксиомой, которую должны бы знать, по идее, все. В разговоре, например, постоянно упоминается community, то есть некоторая общность людей, весьма ограниченная и взаимодействующая между собой. У нас же этого понятия вообщем-то и нет. При разработке какого-то проекта учитываются какие-то абстрактные люди, которые как машины, вещи, обладают некоторыми характеристиками, ходят туда и сюда, да и все. Тут же люди весьма конкретны и все направленно на то, что бы абстрактную массу людей более одивиндуализировать что ли. Что бы люди взаимодействовали между собой, жили вместе, общались, творили, работали. Были бы индивидуальны и разны. Community диктует условия и является опорной точкой любого проекта. Любой дом – это не просто строение для какого-то заказчика, это нечто, что должно действовать на благо местного community (уровня улицы, города, района и тд), то есть должно помогать взаимодействию людей и их комфортной жизни. Комфортной не в плане физических параметров, а в плане психологических, что у нас не учитывается вовсе.

Any home is not just a building for some customer, it is something that should act for the benefit of the local community (street level, city, district, etc.), that is, it should help the interaction of people and their comfortable life.
