Chris Dench, Sum over histories (I)(2006)
Chris Dench (1953) was born in London. After periods living in Tuscany and West Berlin, he finally arrived to settle in Australia and became an Australian citizen in 1992. As a composer, Chris is described as modernist, the new complexity practitioner, and a maximalist. "My own view is that I am a Science Fiction Composer: many of my works draw on either science proper or science fiction for their imagery and structure... The frequently-encountered tactic of juxtaposing local zones of tonal or non-tonal music seems to me unimaginative solution; I prefer nowadays to generate material that sidesteps either allegiance and suggests a way forward..." Chris said.
