Daniel Bacheler, Widdowes Mite
Daniel Bacheler (1572-1619) was an English lutenist and composer. Bacheler was born in the Buckinghamshire village of Aston Clinton, a son of Richard Bacheler and his wife Elizabeth. He served an apprenticeship with his uncle, Thomas Cardell, who was a lutenist and dancing-master in the court of Queen Elizabeth I. Bacheler composed at least 50 pieces of lute music while in the Queen's service and seems to have continued experimenting stylistically until quite late in his life.
