АХИЛЛ
Патрокл упал, и кровь на спине не стынет.
Ахилл говорит: я с тобою, мой друг, и ныне,
И присно, и вовеки веков, аминь.
Мимо проходит войско парадным строем,
Патрокл лежит на песке под стенами Трои,
Глядит, не моргая, в небесную синь.
Ахилл закрывает Патроклу глаза руками,
Ставит у изголовья тяжелый камень,
Веточку лавра кладет к ногам.
Потом он идет домой и, швырнув в прихожей
Щит, и копье, и доспехи из бычьей кожи,
Он достает из сейфа наган.
Ахилл говорит: я устал, мне не быть героем.
К черту царя Агамемнона, к черту Трою,
Смерть - это вам не поход в бистро.
Я не хочу участвовать в телешоу,
Не надо меня играть на сцене Большого,
Кто-нибудь, отберите у Гомера перо.
Смерть не нуждается в ваших красивых строках,
Я не забуду, как падал в песок Патрокл,
Помню, как мир стал немыслимо тускл.
Ахилл исподлобья глядит на тебя с экрана,
Ахилл проворачивает барабан нагана,
Ставит к виску и нажимает спуск.

He pulls out a revolver from the safe.
Achilles says: I'm tired, I won't be a hero.
