На прошлых выходных мы, наконец, вырвались к океану. Поехали вдоль Great Ocean Road(это название дороги), где неописуемой красоты места. Вдоль пляжей очень много провинциальных городков для отдыха. Однако в эти выходные все было битком. И найти дешевое жилье было сложно. Booking.com выдавал минимальный прайс 200AU$ за ночь, тк это были длинные выходные из-за весенних скачек на лошадях. С приходом весны в Мельбурне проходят скачки. Одни из них называются "Кубок Мельбурна". Это самый престижный двухмильный гандикап в мире и самый «дорогой» кубок в Австралии с призовым фондом в 5 млн. австралийских долларов. Только на ставках (а ставку в этот день делает почти каждый австралиец!) зарабатывается несколько миллионов долларов. Скачки проходят раз в год и в честь них делают официальный выходной день. Поэтому многие семьи двинули отдыхать в сторону пляжей. Хоть океан ещё адски холодный и купаться в нем без гидрокостюма нереально, температура вполне была весенняя 20-25 градусов.
Вдоль Great Ocean Road очень много красивых пейзажей. Один из них называется "12 апостолов". Давно хотела своими глазами увидеть это место. В течение многих лет океан омывал скалу. Так и образовались эти 12 апостолов. Кто-то говорит, что раньше их было 12, кто-то - что всего 9. Сейчас их осталось 8. Вообще если углубиться в историю этого места, то изначально оно называлось "Свинья и поросята". А красивое название "12 апостолов" было дано для привлечения туристов.
На следующий день по дороге домой мы заглянули на водопад. Он, конечно, оказался не таким впечатляющим как водопады в Индонезии, но тоже красивым. В любом случае все это лучше видеть вживую!
