Конечно, на ум сразу приходят Крестовые Походы, Ричард Львиное Сердце, Салладин, рыцарские ордена... среди которых одним из первых вспоминается Орден Тамплиеров со всей своей нестареющей загадочностью.
Хочется отметить, что половина альбома вообще полностью посвящена именно этому ордену. Но я хочу поведать только об одной, последней в альбоме, песне - The Curse of Jaques (Проклятье Жака), а точнее о легенде, которой эта песня посвящена.

Но король не спешил отдавать долги - в его голове возник совершенно иной план, зловещий. Тамплиеры считались французским орденом и именно во Франции располагалась их казна и большинство владений. Так же за орденом закрепилась и некая мистическая слава - в частности их называли "Хранителями Священного Грааля".
В то время как орден терпел неудачи в попытках создать плацдарм для наступления на Святую Землю и организовать новый Крестовый Поход, по Европе стремительно поползли слухи о причастности Тамплиеров к поклонению Сатане. Несмотря на то, что Великий Магистр ордена Жак де Боле пошел навстречу и согласился провести расследование, во Франции готовилась крупная облава на Тамплиеров.
В пятницу 13 октября 1307 года Священная Инквизиция провела массовые аресты Тамплиеров. Под ужасными пытками рыцари ордена сознались в том, что они плевали на крест, поклонялись Бафомету, который появлялся на их собраниях в образе кошки, занимались муже- и скотоложеством и прочее. Как сказал потом один из них: «Я бы признал всё; я думаю, что признал бы, что убил Бога, если бы этого потребовали». Позже магистр ордена Жак де Боле отказался от своих показанний, данных под пытками, и призвал остальных следовать его примеру.
Магистр стремился доказать невиновность ордена комиссии из Ватикана и рассчитывал на встречу с Папой Римскомим, но аудиенции не суждено было состояться - Папа уже издавал буллы о роспуске и конфискации имущества ордена. В апреле 1310 года начались сожжения рыцарей ордена на кострах. Эта участь коснулась многих Тамплиеров, в том числе и магистра Жака де Боле (сожжен в 1314 году).
Так вот, существует легенда что Жак де Боле, будучи на костре, проклял Папу Римского и короля Филиппа (а так же его потомков), позвав их за собой на Суд Божий.
"Папа Климент! Король Филипп! Рыцарь Гийом де Ногарэ! Не пройдёт и года, как я призову вас на Суд Божий! Проклинаю вас! Проклятие на ваш род до тринадцатого колена!.."
И да, года не прошло как умер сначала Папа Римский, а затем король Филипп. Более того, три сына короля Филиппа тоже погибли рано, не оставив наследников. На эту тему есть даже серия романов "Проклятые Короли", где подробно описана их судьба и судьба их родственников.
