Бугага, гостиница "Университетская" принадлежащая, если кто не знает, московской патриархии (типа для паломников, хе-хе), отменила резервации для всех участников COSPAR'а, сославшись на плохое техническое состояние номеров (во что я легко верю). При этом спокойно продолжает продавать номера через букинг.ком (и буй с техническим состоянием).
Видимо решили что небогоугодное это дело, международная конференция по космическим исследованиям...

This message concerns only participants who may have booked at the hotel
Universitetskaya unbeknownst to the local organizers, i.e., not through the
Assembly website, of COSPAR 2014. We address to you on behalf of the Technical
Organizer of COSPAR Assembly and on behalf of the Local Organizing Committee.
As you may know, we offered our delegates several accommodation options that
could be booked and paid through the Assembly website, including the hotel
"Universitetskaya" whose rooms were completely sold out, primarily due to the hotel
location and relatively low cost.
A few days ago the hotel management informed us that they would not be able to
honor our block booking for the Assembly despite confirmed and prepaid
accommodation. This is the first time in our 20-years of experience that a hotel
has cancelled such a big group without any official explanation or efforts to
somehow solve the problem of its guests. The chairman of our board of directors
and almost all senior executives of our company met with the management of
"Universitetskaya" hotel (it belongs to Russian Orthodox Church), and they have
unofficially explained us that due to recent changes of management they have
faced several problems, one of which is the technical condition of rooms.
We have no idea whether the reasons given by the hotel administration are true
and whether they are really going to close some rooms for urgent renovation.
What we know for sure is that we now have no possibility to accommodate the
participants in this hotel who booked through the Assembly website. Participants
who booked the Universitetskaya through the Assembly website will be offered
accommodation at the same price at a better hotel slightly farther away.
Nevertheless, the Universitetskaya continues to sell their rooms through the
global booking networks (Booking.com) and to take reservations for dates which
we have been denied (August, 1-10). We feel it is our duty, therefore, to warn
you about possible difficulties in dealing with the ?Universitetskaya? hotel. We
currently have a group of scientists living in this hotel and feedback from them
is that location close to University is the only positive thing about hotel
"Universitetskaya".
If you have already booked a room in this hotel independently of our services,
we recommend that you consider the above. Should you decide to cancel your
reservation, we will gladly assist you in searching for and booking
accommodation not far from the Assembly venue and for a reasonable price.
We greatly regret this situation which is beyond our control and feel it is our
responsibility to notify all participants who may have booked unbeknownst to us
at the Universitetskaya. We remain at your disposition to assist in finding
other accommodation should you have booked the Universitetskaya and decide to
change hotels.
