Но самое замечательное то, что в этот изгиб гвоздя можно было просунуть палец руки. Автор сравнивает изгибы гвоздей с кольцами.Можно было подвести к ним метафору с игольным ушко и проходящей сквозь него ниткой. Но автор приводит в сравнение именно палец.

В повести Юрия Коваля "Приключения Васи Куролесова" герой, находясь в комнате, видит, как кто-то неизвестный, стоя с внешней стороны двери, просовывает палец в дырку от пули... Что-то есть в этом образе - манящее и будоражащее фантазию. Определённо.
И авторы средневековых трактатов знали об этом, когда описывали стигматы на теле Святого Франциска.
