Существует ли вообще различие между духом и душой? Одни считают, что человек и человечество состоят из тела и чего-то такого, что, не являясь телом, представляет собой то ли просто душу, то ли невероятно тонкий сплав душевного и духовного. Другие же настаивают на том, что душа — это одно, а дух — это другое. И что человек, а значит и человечество, не двухчастны (душа и тело), а трехчастны (дух, душа и тело).
Идет непрерывный спор дихотомистов и трихотомистов. Между тем, не только на русском языке, но и на других языках мира душа и дух упорно именуются по-разному. И если на русском языке между словом «душа» и словом «дух» есть хотя бы какое-то созвучие, то между латинскими словами spiritus (то бишь дух) и anima (то бишь душа) никакого созвучия нет. Нет его и между арабскими словами «нафс» (душа) и «рух» (дух).
Томас Манн пишет, что «душа, находясь в плену форм, благочестиво верна прошлому, священному "было"». Она является чем-то согревающим, теплым, ведь не зря говорят «душа компании» или «душевно посидели». Попробуйте сказать «духовно посидели» или «дух компании». Ведь слышится какой-то иной смысл, не правда ли. Так вот, Дух:
